Greenwich Village Orchestra Announces 2018-2019 Season

The Greenwich Village Orchestra (GVO) announces its 2018-2019 season concerts, led by Music Director Barbara Yahr. Now in its 32nd season, the GVO is committed to making music at the highest possible level and enriching the lives of both players and audience through emotionally charged, exhilarating performances. All concerts of the 2018-2019 season will take place at All Saints Church, 230 East 60th Street, Manhattan, unless otherwise noted.

For over 60 years, Flint Youth Theatre has proudly served young people and their families, and today it takes a bold new step to offer more to all ages by transforming into the new Flint Repertory Theatre.  This name change will go into effect immediately.  Starting with the coming 2018/2019 season, a major expansion of the depth and breadth of its programming, as well as its mission, will position it as a professional, not-for-profit regional theatre.

Bringing Good Cheer to Flint - Flint Town “Back to School” Carnival

The National Clean Water Collective (NCWC), Napoli Shkolnik PLLC, NorthStar Social Justice Law Group and Darley are excited to host the Flint Town 'Back to School' Carnival being held at the Berston Field House, 3300 North Saginaw Street, Flint, MI 48505 on August 4, 2018 from 11:00AM-4:00PM. The organizers of this event are focused on bringing cheer to the Flint community, all while creating public awareness about legal rights. Author, Actor and Founder of NorthStar Hill Harper will deliver a motivational speech to the public to encourage citizen advocacy and responsibility and provide up-to-date information about their legal options as Flint residents. However, the main focus of the day is for children and their families to have a great time. Attendees are invited to participate in bouncy houses, a water slide, carnival games, prize giveaways, and much more. Visitors will also receive free Safe Water Boxes courtesy of Darley (while supplies last) in addition to the first 100 guests receiving free backpacks full of school supplies so be sure to arrive early. At a meeting of the Abbey Theatre's Board of Directors on 5 June 2018, actor Bosco Hogan was appointed to the Board of the Abbey Theatre for a term of three years. Bosco was appointed to the Board on a recommendation from the Selection Committee [Dr. Frances Ruane (Chair of the Abbey Theatre), Sheila Pratschke (Chair of the Arts Council) and Prof. Chris Morash (Vice-Provost of Trinity College Dublin)] and he will take up his appointment later this month.

Guitar slinger Jesse Dayton has announced the release of this forthcoming album The Outsider, out June 8, 2018 on Blue Elan Records. In anticipation of the release, he has shared the first single “Hurtin' Behind Pine Curtain” via Guitar World. Jesse Dayton's career reads like a who's who of American music, having recorded guitars on records and film with Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Johnny Bush, Glen Campbell and more. He has toured the world with punk legends X, filling for guitarist Billy Zoom on a 40-city U.S. tour. Rob Zombie asked him to write and record a soundtrack for his film 'The Devils Rejects,' which then lead to co-writing songs for Rob's follow up franchise film, 'Halloween 2' (which Dayton appears in playing the part of character 'Captain Clegg'). BWW Review: A Brand New Look for AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE at the Guthrie Theater

The plot of AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE seems ripped from today's headlines: think Flint, think Detroit. Of course, Norwegian Henrik Ibsen (an iconoclast in his day, generally regarded as "The Father of Social Realism" in western theater history) penned this prescient piece back in 1882. What the Guthrie is producing is a new adaptation by Brad Birch, first staged in 2016 in Wales. It's undergone further revision for this production. Birch's adaptation is most welcome. The familiar story is lifted up to a whole new level by the striking visuals and swift, intriguing transitions devised by director Lyndsey Turner and her design team.
