This week (July 12-18) in live streaming: it's Encores! week at Stars in the House, Next on Stage: Dance Edition Season 2 kicks off, the Jimmy Awards are back, and so much more!

The season opens with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire's comedy Good People - a compelling and comedic examination of class and the divides it creates in a community of hardworking South Boston friends. A Tony Award nominee for Best Play, Good People, looks into the struggles of its characters and reminds us that kindness comes at the most surprising moments and from unexpected sources.

The 2021 lineup will be produced and performed by artists from Cape Cod, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Champaign-Urbana, and New Orleans. On Saturday, May 15, 2021, Los Angeles Opera and Opera San Jose presented a recital honoring Latina composers. A new musical stage adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s legendary novel The Great Gatsby is headed for the stage, with a new score from Grammy Award-nominated international rock star of Florence + the Machine Florence Welch and Grammy Award nominee Thomas Bartlett.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra brings its first-ever all-online season—with near weekly concert streams distributed through its new streaming platform BSO NOW, November 2020-April 2021—to an end with four programs led by BSO Music Director Andris Nelsons, released each Thursday at noon, March 25–April 29, at www.bso.org/now.

Glen Tetley Legacy completes its first virtual ballet staging.  The Rite of Spring (1974) one of choreographer Glen Tetley’s most technically difficult works received its premiere engagement by Suzhou Ballet Theatre on September 12, 13, 2020 in China at the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center before a live audience.

BAM today announced plans for virtual programs including theater, kids and family, literary, and film events. The fresh slate of offerings include the world premiere of V's (formerly Eve Ensler) That Kindness: Nurses in their Own Words; a talk with co-creator of #BlackLivesMatter and the Black Lives Matter Global Network Alicia Garza; and more!

Baritone Lucas Meachem and his wife, pianist Irina Meachem, sang an aria-filled recital on to open the Merola Opera Program Recital Series September 27, 2020. The Meachems opened the recital with the aria a?oeBella siccome un angeloa?? (a?oeBeautiful as an Angela??) from Donizettia??s Don Pasquale. Lucas acted with his voice to show not only its power and huge sound but also his ability to control it and sing with a mere thread of sound when describing the sweetness of the young lady.

3,000 Off-Broadway Productions proudly presents The Spinning Tales of Peter Pan & Cinderella on ICE! on the Debbie Reynolds Mainstage at the historic El Portal Theatre in the NOHO Arts District, North Hollywood, CA.  This special four performance only event will be presented on March 19, March 21 and March 22, 2020.

In 1992, a small fishing town in Nova Scotia, Canada launched the Liverpool International Theatre Festival, hoping to attract tourism. Little Theatre of Norfolk will perform there this fall under director John B. Gillis, who lived in Nova Scotia back when the festival first formed. Gillis took a few moments away from directing and fundraising to tell us about the theatre festival and the show he's bringing there, The Commedia Rapunzel.

Orpheus, Eurydice, a trouble-making horse and Death herself converge in a very funny and irreverent reimagining of the Greek myth by surrealist poet, playwright and filmmaker Jean Cocteau. Deaf West Theatre views Cocteau's whimsical, magical and highly visual play, first performed in 1926, through a unique lens: translated from the French into Spoken English by John Savacool, into American Sign Language by Andrew Moore, and slated for a run at the True Colors Festival in Tokyo, Japan at the end of April. Deena Selenow directs Orphée in a visiting production at the Odyssey Theatre, opening March 13 for a four-week run through April 5. Three low-priced previews are set for March 8, March 11 and March 12.

In celebration of what would be legendary film and television icon Ricardo Montalbán's 100th birthday in 2020, the historic Hollywood theatre, The Montalbán, whose moniker is “where entertainment begins,” is unveiling new plans to fulfill Ricardo Montalbán's dream of diversity and inclusion. This year, the owners of The Montalbán, Ricardo's son in law and President of The Montalbán Company, LLC, Gilbert Smith, and daughter Anita, have plans to expand the theatre's musical performances, beginning with The Company Men on February 21 and 22; and The Soul of Broadway Starring Terron Brooks on February 28 and 29.
