The only other musical written by Rent composer Jonathan Larson, tick, tick...Boom!, opens at the Bridge House Theatre this evening. The show is semi-autobiographical, based on Larson's own career. Set in 1990s New York, it follows the complex life of Jon, a 'promising' young composer, approaching 30 and with no idea where his life and career are heading. This thought-provoking yet funny show is packed with great songs, and is just as relevant today.

Dobbalopolis proudly presents boom, Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's apocalyptic comedy.  The production is the first theatrical event produced by the newly minted Dobbalopolis Productions, directed by Tara Elliott (Drama League Fellow) and co-produced by Andrew Dobbie (Stu) and Blaire O'Leary (Exquisite Corpse Company) at The Chain Theater's new space in Manhattan.

The story of Jonathan Larson's death before the first scheduled preview of the off-Broadway performance of his 'Rent' has become theater history.

Written in 2008 and premiering at the Ars Nova Theater in New York, Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's comedy BOOM quickly became the most produced play in the US between 2009 - 2010 and until now, has never before been professionally staged in the UK.

After an absence of almost a decade, tick, tick…BOOM! bursts back onto the London stage at the Park Theatre. There's plenty of energy, a natural spark among the three leads, but little emotional impact in this revival. It ticks, ticks along, but lacks the boom.

Currently in previews, David Rabe's IN THE BOOM BOOM ROOM is set to open Off-Broadway tomorrow evening (Thursday) at American Theatre of Actors, 314 West 54 Street (just west of Eighth Ave.) Playwright David Rabe attended rehearsals over the past few weeks, making tweaks to his script in the process for this 2017 incarnation of the rarely produced play. The cast features Pete Mattaliano, who also appeared in the play's world premiere at Villanova University in 1972. Joseph Papp subsequently presented IN THE BOOM BOOM ROOM on Broadway in 1973 starring Robert Loggia, Charles Durning and Madeline Kahn, and the following year at The Public with Christopher Lloyd and Ellen Greene. Chris Jenkins returns to Park Theatre in the role of Jon, following his appearance in 2016's quadruple Offie Award-nominated musicalThe Burnt Part Boys in PARK90. Gillian Saker (BBC Two's Ripper Street) performs the role of Jon's girlfriend Susan, with Jordan Shaw (Motown The Musical, Shaftesbury Theatre) playing the part of Michael, Jon's childhood friend.

Playwright David Rabe has been attending rehearsals for the first major NYC revival of his In the Boom Boom Room, beginning performances April 21st at American Theatre of Actors, 314 West 54 Street (between Eighth & Ninth Ave.) Rabe is currently observing and advising the company on the upcoming production. Beginning November 22nd, Lilli Cooper, seen on Broadway in Spring Awakening and Wicked, has taken over the role of Susan, joining Nick Blaemire and George Salazar. Street Theatre Company presents the final musical of its explosive 2016 season, tick...tick...BOOM!. Written by the Pulitzer Prize-winning Jonathan Larson, creator of the Tony Award smash hit RENT [recently in production at TPAC], and David Auburn, whose incredible play Proof earned him his own Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award, tick...tick...BOOM! opened Off-Broadway in 2001 before moving to West End and the London stage.

Originally conceived as a 'rock monologue'and first produced Off-Off Broadway in 1990, Jonathan Larson's TICK, TICK...BOOM! plays the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in Makati City now through Sunday, October 23.
