The Carol Tambor Theatrical Foundation announces the winner of this year's The Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award, the highest honor at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Seven years since the critically-hailed Between the Devil And Two Black Hearts (their last studio release), Los Angeles-based 8MM returns to the forefront of the orchestral alternative scene with a stellar new EP HEART-SHAPED HELL which will be released on February 22, 2019.  Featuring Grammy-nominated producer/mixer and multi-instrumentalist Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, Thrice, No Doubt, Slayer) and multi-faceted wife/vocalist Juliette Beavan, 8MM has grown and evolved since their last release.  “In the past few years, we've found some really cool and interesting new artists putting out very cool work that reminded us of the vibe of our first EP, Opener,” Sean explains. 'It gave us the itch and inspiration to get back to our moody, cinematic roots. So, when one of our outside projects got pushed back, we found ourselves with a month free so we sat down and banged it out. It's our favorite collection of 8MM songs so far.”

1927's dystopian fable about our reliance on machines, blending animation, live music and performance has been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike since its UK premiere at London's Young Vic Theatre in December 2014. Since then, Golem has over three and half years been performed over 315 times, touring across the UK and internationally to 17 countries across 5 continents.

A modern take on the classic story, THE HYSTERIA OF DR FAUSTUS explores the solemn pact made between the devil and a man who has nothing left to lose. Adapted by Brandon Walker, this brand new play combines Marlowe and Goethe's enduring fables into a dark and magical modern parable, staged in an intimate setting in the East Village. The season is being presented under the theme, IN EXTREMIS, which in Latin means 'in the farthest reaches' or 'at the point of death.'

I'm a great fan of Golden Girls, the legendary and hilarious TV sitcom for which Jamie Wooten was a producer and writer ~ the same Jamie Wooten of the equally prolific comedic trio of Jones Hope Wooten that penned Always A Bridesmaid. I therefore expected a comedy imbued with similar sparkles of wit and sophistication, only to be left at the altar, disappointed by trite, forced, and flat stabs at humor. A bright and shining light of this show is Carli Weekley, as newlywed Kari, whose entr'acte conversations with the guests at her wedding reveal a marvelous comic sensibility. She is joyous in tossing pearls of humor to an audience-in-waiting.

Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell will star in The Band Wagon, an Encores! Special Event based on the classic MGM movie of the same title, from November 6 - 16, 2014 at City Center. The show has a book by Douglas Carter Beane adapted from the screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, with music by Arthur Schwartz and lyrics by Howard Dietz. The Band Wagon will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall with music direction by Todd Ellison. The Band Wagon will run for 12 performances, by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures.
