The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) will honour Saturday Night Live with a Special Award to celebrate its influence on television comedy in the UK and around the world.

The Paley Center for Media today announced that it will present the second program in the James P. Jimirro Media Impact Series: The Midterm Elections 2018: Media and Politics in a Polarized Country, on September 25 at the Paley Center's New York location. This second program of this annual series will tackle the upcoming midterm elections, which promises to be unlike any Congressional contest in American history.

Broadway actor turned CGI Film Director Charles Mandracchia, wins BEST ANIMATION & BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN in the Hollywood Dreamz Film Festival for his film BIG PASTA - The Jazzy, Cigar Chomping, Honky-Tonk Musical. Mandracchia is from the original cast of Tommy Tune's Grand Hotel the Musical.

A Little New Music will bring its entertaining showcase of emerging musical theatre talents to The Sorting Room's 2018 Summer Sessions at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, July 19 at 7:00 p.m.  A Little New Music's audiences will discover brand new musical theatre songs firsthand before they land on Broadway or beyond.

July is back to back action with a parade of local and national acts at Blue Note Hawaii. The "Concert King of the Philippines" Martin Nievera returns by popular demand for a three-night series, legendary folk artist Bruce Cockburn performs for two nights only and the Blue Note Comedy series explodes with superstar Marlon Wayans for two shows only. Other national acts include Alex Bugnon and Karla Bonoff.

In the sketch, director Lowell Dubbins (Mikey Day) chats with journalist Janet (Cecily Strong) about his children's production (Kyle Mooney, Amy Schumer) of Lil' Rent. Amy Schumer even sings a bit of their version of 'Out Tonight.'

One of the great things about DC theatre is that we have the opportunities to experience theater from all over the world, including from some of the most artistically renowned companies.  Take for example the Druid Theatre Company in Galway, Ireland.  Today's subject Garry Hynes is living her theatre life as Artistic Director of that esteemed company.  The Druid's production of Waiting for Godot is embarking on its year-long tour with a run at Shakespeare Theatre Company through May 20.

Blue Note Hawaii welcomes some of music's most renowned artists this month, continuing the Hawaii News Now Jazz Legends series with Tony and GRAMMY (R) Award-winning jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater and epic drummer Billy Cobham. I had the honor of seeing the original Broadway cast of the Tony winning musical Ragtime as my very first Broadway show. So, as you can guess, I am absolutely ecstatic to see that the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center has added it to their fantastic Spring/Summer schedule. This exciting and well done incarnation, kicking off their 42nd season, is excellently directed by Matthew W. Surico running through March 24th at the adorable Oakdale venue.
