The Kitchen presents 'Julius Eastman: That Which Is Fundamental,' an interdisciplinary project of performances and a two-part exhibition, curated by artist Tiona Nekkia McCloden and Bowerbird founder Dustin Hurt, that comprises the most expansive demonstration yet of Julius Eastman's rousing creative output, January 19 - February 10, 2018.

Acclaimed multidisciplinary Iranian-American vocalist and artist Sussan Deyhim will perform The House Is Black Media Project, a years-in-the-making work that marshals various facets of her dauntless career opera, cinema, poetry, theater, video and performance art to manifest the world of Iranian modernist Forough Farrokhzad's poetry and film, February 1-3, 2018, at Los Angeles' Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, and March 10, 2018, at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Surrounding The Wallis performances will be an exhibit, Dawn of the Cold Season, on view from January 15-February 4, 2018.

Actor/cabaret singer Stephanie Trudeau will perform a return engagement of her docu-cabaret, 'Chavela: Think Of Me,' at Pangea Supper Club, 178 Second Ave. (East Village), November 2, 9 and 16, 2017 at 7:30 PM.

The production sold out the entire season long before the opening night.

Actor/cabaret singer Stephanie Trudeau will perform a return engagement of her docu-cabaret, 'Chavela: Think Of Me,' at Pangea Supper Club, 178 Second Ave. (East Village), June 26 at 7:30 PM. She had debuted the piece there on May 15 and has been invited back in response to the appreciation of her audience and an enthusatic review. 

Trudeau will unveil the piece May 15 at Pangea Supper Club, 178 Second Ave. (East Village), accompanied by her arranger, David Lahm on piano and by Ben Lapidus on guitar and percussion.

Underground Railway Theater will present Tony Kushner's Homebody from April 20 - May 7, 2017. Homebody is directed by Lee Mikeska Gardner. The press performance is Saturday, April 22 at 8PM.

The 16th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its lineup of 57 thought-provoking and diverse short films in competition, including 36 world premieres. The selected shorts, 40% of which were directed by women, and include filmmakers from every corner of the globe, were curated from a record 4,385 submissions. They will be presented in 10 distinct competition programs, consisting of five narrative, four documentary, and, for the second year, one animated program. In addition, there is the Sports Shorts program as part of the 11th annual Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival, sponsored by Mohegan Sun. The Shorts program, sponsored by Nutella Originals, is a part of the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, which runs April 19-30.

The 2017 - 2018 season at Playhouse on the Square season will begin with 9 to 5: the Musical, based on the hit film of the same name. Featuring familiar favorite songs like '9 to 5', as well as additional music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, 9 to 5: The Musical is the story of three unlikely friends who take control of their office and learn there is nothing they can't do, even in a man's world.

Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music-based entertainment, today announced a partnership with hip-hop pioneer and multi-hyphenate entrepreneur Russell Simmons to become a lead producer of THE SCENARIO, a new stage musical with an original story set to the greatest hits from a three-decade span of hip-hop.
