BRIC, the pioneering Brooklyn arts and media organization, announces the 2020 season of BRIC House Sessions (March 5-April 23, 2020). The exhilarating concert series, held annually, brings the spirit of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival into the organization's Fort Greene headquarters through world-class performances on Thursday evenings. BRIC House Sessions draws its talent from a bold and eclectic array of musical genres, featuring both local treasures and internationally-renowned artists.

The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is launching into Leap Year with 23 dazzling shows, concerts and special events for every entertainment preference, from classical music to Broadway razzle dazzle, including the return of Michael Feinstein and the Kravis Center Pops Orchestra, the 13th annual Palm Beach Wine Auction Dinner & Live Auction, and the local premiere of HAMILTON, the biggest blockbuster of the past decade.

A Christmas Story, based on the popular 1983 movie of the same title, comes to the Morrison Center for a limited engagement as the second show of the 2019-2020 season. Set in Indiana in the 1940s, we see a simpler time, unpolluted by the violent and somewhat fearful ways of the 21st century. The Morrison Center did a fantastic job setting the stage for a beautiful scene of family, friends, and the frenzy that often happens during the Holidays. While waiting to go into the theatre, I noticed children were there with parents and older couples enjoying date night. There was a happy buzz circulating throughout the theatre; The feeling was contagious and simply put, welcoming. There aren't many musicals that resonate the feeling of community, this one definitely had it.

'On a personal level, to me, the piece represented the lineage: a student hears a teachers' voice and is forever changed by it,' Vangeline described. National Geographic, with Imagine Television Studios and Fox 21 Television Studios, announced today that the Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actor Courtney B. Vance ('The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story') will star opposite previously announced Cynthia Erivo ('Harriet,' Broadway's 'The Color Purple') as Aretha Franklin in the next installment of the Emmy-winning global anthology series GENIUS: ARETHA. Additionally, Suzan-Lori Parks ('Topdog/Underdog') will serve as showrunner and executive producer and Anthony Hemingway ('Power,' 'The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story') will executive produce and serve as the producing director for the upcoming season. Filming will start this December for a spring 2020 premiere on National Geographic channels in 172 countries and in 43 languages.

I Do! I Do! even with this updated book, is an old-fashioned two-hander musical that never fails to please, without ever challenging the traditional approach to the union between a man and a woman.

In addition to choreographing this musical staple, his company, Brown Cow Collections, is putting Sweet Charity where it belongs: in an intimate club. An audience of 40 will be invited to every performance to sit in the Habitat Living Sound club to experience the show up close.

I had the pleasure of seeing CABARET as put on by Fairfield Center Stage, at the Trevi Lounge in Fairfield, CT.  Fairfield Center Stage has yet again put on a well known production in a brilliantly unique way that audiences would not get to experience anywhere else.  Fairfield Center Stage gets the perfect cast for the roles, and furthermore finds the perfect venue for each production, to provide the ambiance appropriate to the show.  The Trevi Lounge creates a wonderful intimate atmosphere for the cabaret show within the CABARET show.

The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center and Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra announce that The New York Tenors will perform on March 14, 2020, replacing the previously announced Irish Tenors. The Irish Tenors have put their spring tour on hold after the recent retirement of Finbar Wright.

Lost Nation Theater Continues its 31st Season at Montpelier City Hall Arts Center with Kander & Ebb's Tony-Award winning musical, CABARET!

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others. Stanislav Ioudenitch, Director of Piano at the Park International Center for Music, confirmed today that Kenny Broberg, Van Cliburn Silver Medalist and Park ICM piano master's candidate, was among the 24 piano competitors announced recently by the jurors of The International Tchaikovsky Competition.

Art enthusiasts gathered last night (May 22) at Montalvo Arts Center for an exclusive members-only unveiling of its 2019-2020 Carriage House Theatre Concert Series line-up. The historic Silicon Valley venue announced a thrilling roster of performers from Meow Meow to The Second City, from Pablo Cruise to Loudon Wainwright III, tributes to The Beatles, Cream, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and an appearance by NPR's hit radio show and podcast "Selected Shorts." SpeakEasy Stage Company presents the New England premiere of the 2018 Lucille Lortel Award-winner for Outstanding Play (tie), Jocelyn Bioh's SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MAN GIRLS PLAY, directed by Summer L. Williams. A Ghanaian-American playwright, Bioh sets the play in 1986 at a top boarding school in Ghana. The action centers on self-anointed queen bee Paulina (Ireon Roach) who aspires to win the Miss Ghana Beauty Pageant in order to represent her country in the coveted Miss Global Universe Pageant. When Headmistress Francis (Crystin Gilmore) introduces Ericka (Victoria Byrd), a new student from Ohio, just before the audition, Paulina is unexpectedly faced with a formidable challenger, not just for the competition, but also for the attentions and loyalty of her crew.
