Gabrielle Lee will play Bricktop in Greenbrier Valley Theatre's World Premiere of Ada 'Bricktop' Smith -Legend of the Jazz Age, a one-woman play with music that celebrates and chronicles the life of Ada 'Bricktop' Smith; written by Cathey Sawyer and musical direction by Kermit Medsker. Born in Alderson, West Virginia, Bricktop a singer and dancer, rose to fame as a nightclub owner during the Jazz Age. She opened Chez Bricktop's in Paris in 1926, and eventually became the darling of Paris nightlife and nicknamed the 'Doyenne of Cafe Society.'

The Barbican today announces its full January to June 2019 Theatre and Dance programme. Tickets for the season go on sale to Barbican Members Plus on Wednesday 17 October, to Barbican Members on Friday 19 October and on general sale on Friday 26 October 2018.

This November at Teatro alla Scala, conductor Markus Stenz leads the world premiere of the highly-anticipated world premiere performance of Fin de Partie, the first and only opera by the beloved, visionary composer Gyorgy Kurtag, composed at the age of 91.  Based on the famous Samuel Beckett play, commonly performed in English as Endgame, the operatic version, to be sung in French, has been more than seven years in the making. At 450 pages, Fin de Partie is by far the largest score ever composed by the reputed "master of the miniature," who has for several decades maintained the desire of writing a musical treatment for the sparse, sardonically existential work. This production is staged by internationally-acclaimed artistic and theater director, Pierre Audi.

London International Mime Festival, directed by Helen Lannaghan and Joseph Seelig, is a unique event in the theatre calendar, a once a year chance to see the very best and newest contemporary visual theatre that embraces cutting edge circus-theatre, juggling, puppetry, live art, mime and physical theatre.

Oye Como Va! In NoHo this season the Troubies turn up the heat on their annual holiday send-up on the Debbie Reynolds Mainstage at the historic El Portal Theatre.  The band will be pumping and hips will be swinging as the Ovation Award winning, Los Angeles-based Troubadour Theater Company presents The Year Without a Santana Claus, a musical parody which fuses the music of Carlos Santana and the Rankin & Bass 70's claymation TV special The Year Without A Santa Claus.  The company's Master of Mayhem and Artistic Director Matt Walker directs.

The Orion Ensemble, winner of the prestigious Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, continues its 26th season with 'Russian Passion,' welcoming guest cellist Ian Maksin and guest violist Stephen Boe. Performances take place November 11 at a new venue, First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn; November 14 at the PianoForte Studios in downtown Chicago; and November 18 at the Music Institute of Chicago's Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the independent, not-for-profit affiliate of SDC, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, today announced unique plans for its 2019 award evening, which will feature original choreographic pieces resulting from a special commissioning program, with the application period now open. SDCF also announced that Victoria Traube would receive a special 'Mr. Abbott' Award at the event, to be held March 25 at the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF).

English Touring Theatre today announces full tour dates for Ned Bennett's bold new production of Peter Shaffer's critically-acclaimed classic, psychological thriller Equus in a co-production with Theatre Royal Stratford East. The production opens at Theatre Royal Stratford East on 21 February, with previews from 15 February and runs until 23 March. Following this it tours to Cambridge Arts Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, Bristol Old Vic, The Lowry, Northern Stage and Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.

Actors Co-op Theatre Company (Ovation Award-Winner 2017 Best Play, Intimate Theatre for 33 Variations) presents the first show in its 27th Season with the thriller ROPE, written by Patrick Hamilton, directed by Ken Sawyer, produced by Kevin Shewey.  ROPE will preview on Thursday, September 20 at 8pm and will open Friday, September 21 at 8pm and run through Sunday, October 29 at the Actors Co-op Crossley Theatre, 1760 N. 'Feathers of Fire: A Persian Epic' is a visually breathtaking cinematic shadow play for all ages, created and directed by Hamid Rahmanian, a 2014 Guggenheim fellowship-winning filmmaker/visual artist. Inspired by the tenth century Persian epic 'Shahnameh' (The Book of Kings), it dramatizes the origin story from the tale with elaborate shadow puppets, multimedia and live actors. The production, which debuted at BAM in 2016 and was presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art the same year, returns to New York next month for two days only. It will be presented by Fictionville Studio September 7 and 8 at Kaye Playhouse, 695 Park Ave. (at 68th Street), for three performances only before it travels to China and Paris.
