The Martha Graham Dance Company's NEW@Graham series offers a look inside the creative process of new works commissioned by the Company. On December 18 and 19, the Company will present a work-in-progress showing of choreographers Maxine Doyle and Bobbi Jene Smith's collaborative work for the Company, followed by a conversation with the artists. James Greene, a character actor with an illustrious stage career, but perhaps best known for his four-year stint on TV's 'The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd' with writer and director Jay Tarses, died on November 9, 2018, at his home in Los Angeles. He was 91.

This November at Teatro alla Scala, conductor Markus Stenz leads the world premiere of the highly-anticipated world premiere performance of Fin de Partie, the first and only opera by the beloved, visionary composer Gyorgy Kurtag, composed at the age of 91.  Based on the famous Samuel Beckett play, commonly performed in English as Endgame, the operatic version, to be sung in French, has been more than seven years in the making. At 450 pages, Fin de Partie is by far the largest score ever composed by the reputed "master of the miniature," who has for several decades maintained the desire of writing a musical treatment for the sparse, sardonically existential work. This production is staged by internationally-acclaimed artistic and theater director, Pierre Audi.

Oye Como Va! In NoHo this season the Troubies turn up the heat on their annual holiday send-up on the Debbie Reynolds Mainstage at the historic El Portal Theatre.  The band will be pumping and hips will be swinging as the Ovation Award winning, Los Angeles-based Troubadour Theater Company presents The Year Without a Santana Claus, a musical parody which fuses the music of Carlos Santana and the Rankin & Bass 70's claymation TV special The Year Without A Santa Claus.  The company's Master of Mayhem and Artistic Director Matt Walker directs.
