The Adelphi Orchestra will feature Randall Mitsuo Goosby, Violin (First Prize winner of the Adelphi Orchestra Competition, First Prize winner of the Sphinx Competition ) in the rarely performed and defiantly triumphant Korngold Concerto for Violin in D major, Op. 35. Randall Goosby's performance of the Korngold Violin Concerto will be the centerpiece in a program entitled "From Vienna with Love" which will also feature Strauss's Overture to Die Fledermaus and concludes with the beautiful Symphony no 2 in D major by Brahms. The concert,  conducted by Richard Owen on Sunday October 27th at 7PM will take place at  NYC's historic Good Shepherd - Faith Presbyterian Church located in the heart of Lincoln Center. History and politics take center stage as Palo Alto Players continues its 2018-19 season with the Bay Area premiere of the Tony Award-winning play ALL THE WAY. 

Acclaimed actresses Jane Kaczmarek ("Malcolm in the Middle") and Kate Burton ("Gray's Anatomy") star in a staged reading of the riveting drama Kindertransport  by Diane Samuels presented by the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in conjunction with producers Patty Glaser, Paula Holt, Perla Karney and Karen Winnick on Sunday, November 11, 2018, 2 pm, in the Bram Goldsmith Theater at The Wallis. Directed by Deborah Lavine, the "moving, thought-provoking play," (Variety)inspired by one of the lesser known but most moving stories of the Holocaust explores the life of a child saved during the Kindertransport, the British humanitarian effort that rescued nearly 10,000 Jewish children prior to World War II. The performance celebrates the 80thAnniversary of the Kindertransport and a portion of proceeds will benefit the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust.

This August 21, the Jacob Burns Film Center (Pleasantville, NY) will be screening the original 1933 classic King Kong before it comes alive on Broadway this fall. Following the screening will be a Q&A with the Musical Creative Team, including Olivier Award-winning director & choreographer Drew McOnie, Helpmann Award-winning set & projection designer Peter England, Helpmann Award-winning creature designer Sonny Tilders and lead producer & Global Creatures CEO Carmen Pavlovic, the discussion will be moderated by four-time Tony-winning Broadway producer Dori Berinstein.

The Actors Fund announced today that tickets are now on sale for a special screening of the original 1933 film King Kong, in partnership with the Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) as part of their ongoing film series, 'Life on the Stage: Conversation and Film.' In Skintight, Jodi Isaac's son Benjamin is in the midst of a semester abroad in Hungary, where he's been exploring his family's roots as Eastern European Jews. Now self-identified Americans, the Isaac family has been living in the United States for nearly 100 years, and memories of Jodi's grandparents' lives in Hungary are distant ones. But Jewish experiences of the Holocaust in Hungary in the 1930s and 1940s loom large in the history of any family of Hungarian Jewish descent.

German composer Richard Strauss' manuscript for the final scene of his 1935 opera Die schweigsame Frau (The Silent Woman) will be auctioned by Nate D. Sanders Auctions on July 26, 2018.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts. Palo Alto Players continues its 2017-18 Season with THE LARAMIE PROJECT, the powerful drama originally developed by Mois s Kaufman and members of Tectonic Theater Project in the aftermath of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old gay student at the University of Wyoming. The play chronicles the reactions of the town of Laramie, Wyoming in the year after the murder, bringing to life the real people who lived at the epicenter of one of the nation's most heart-wrenching anti-gay hate crimes. THE LARAMIE PROJECT is directed by Lee Ann Payne and features a cast of eight local Bay Area actors, portraying more than sixty characters on stage. Peterborough Players Present MET Opera's The Exterminating Angel. Following the rapturous response to his last opera, The Tempest, the Met presents the American premiere of Thomas Ad s's The Exterminating Angel, inspired by the classic Luis Bu uel film of the same name. The Exterminating Angel is a surreal fantasy about a dinner party from which the guests can't escape. Tom Cairns, who wrote the libretto, directs the new production, and Ad s conducts his own adventurous new opera. The production includes soprano Audrey Luna, who sings a high A in The Exterminating Angel, a note that has never been sung before in the history of the Met.
