Windy City Playhouse announces an expansion in programming with a world-premiere immersive theatrical production, Southern Gothic, premiering February 7, 2017 in an open-ended engagement. Written by Leslie Liautaud and directed by David H. Bell, Southern Gothic gives audiences the opportunity to be a fly on the wall at a cocktail party in Ashford, Georgia in the 1960s where four couples gather together to celebrate a birthday.

Stefanie Nelson is the Artistic Director of Stefanie Nelson Dancegroup, a New York City-based contemporary performance ensemble. Her work distills deeply personal ideas into highly kinetic, expressive, and provocative works that are rooted in cross-media collaboration with artists working in music, video, and visual arts. Described as 'instinctual, untamed, and edgy,' Nelson's dances have been presented at some of the foremost contemporary performance venues in the United States, including Joyce SoHo, Dance Theater Workshop, LaMama Moves!, Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, and Jacob's Pillow, and internationally in Canada, Mexico, and Italy, among others. Nelson is an accomplished teacher as well as the founder and artistic director of DANCE ITALIA, an annual summer dance intensive held in the cities of Agropoli and Lucca, Italy. She recently served as a Choreography panelist for New York Foundation for the Arts Artists' Fellowships and curated a series How high is the ceiling in my glass castle? Lantern Theater Company continues its 24th season with a world premiere production of The Craftsman by celebrated Philadelphia playwright Bruce Graham. Commissioned and developed through the Lantern's New Works Initiative, Graham's new play spins a darkly ironic tale of ambition, genius, and deception. M. Craig Getting will direct a cast that includes Mary Lee Bednarek, Dan Hodge, Anthony Lawton, Brian McCann, Paul L. Nolan, and Ian Merrill Peakes. It is imperative that as a cast we explore and examine these themes before we even begin to tackle the language. Fortunately enough August Wilson's language succinct and inspiring. His characters are so clearly and powerfully structured that the journey for a cast to 'know' and 'find' these people. They are richly drawn,' Hemphill concluded.

In Miller's 2017-18 Season Opener, the acclaimed pianist and Bach specialist Simone Dinnerstein and Boston's self-conducted chamber orchestra A Far Cry (in its Miller debut) will perform the New York premiere of a new piano concerto that Glass has written especially for them. As a follow up to Bach + Glass, Simone Dinnerstein will perform a recital that pairs Glass with Schubert at Miller Theatre on January 18, 2018.
