Opera is for everyone-and so is Seattle Opera's 2017/18 season! There's a new bilingual performance for elementary-school students, new performance venues such as Georgetown Steam Plant, a new mainstage collaboration with ACT Theatre and Seattle Symphony leaders, and even an outdoor performance offered free of charge. Regardless of background or socioeconomic status, this season offers ways for a broad audience to be able to experience opera; it's an open invitation for the Pacific Northwest.

Music Director David Hayes will lead the New York Choral Society and Orchestra (NYChoral) in the United States premiere of Maltese composer Joseph Vella's The Hyland Mass: A Prayer for Unity in Diversity.

Commissioned and produced by DANCE NOW, National Intimacy Month is a collaboration between performance duo Chelsea and Magda, choreographer/dancers Bryan Strimpel and Shaina Branfman of B.S. Movement, and choreographer Raja Feather Kelly and his troupe, the feath3r theory. Combining choreography, improvisation, text, live podcasting, and sketch comedy, the work explores the role of intimacy in the creative process and in performance. The cute and the aggressive, the familiar and unknown, the popular and the underrated-all come into play in dynamic, surprising, and humorous ways, complete with commercial breaks and apple pie.

CHOP SHOP:  Bodies of Work celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2017 with a retrospective of artists from the festival's history - plus one new to Seattle.

Craig Getting directs a cast that includes Barrymore Award-winners Peter DeLaurier and Liz Filios; Filios also serves as co-composer, working with sound designer Michael Hahn to create the evocative original music that scores the production. Artistic Director Anda Winters today announces Print Room at the Coronet's forthcoming season running through until December 2016. The season opens with Tennessee Williams' A Lovely Sunday for Creve Coeur, directed by Michael Oakley. The production opens in the main theatre space on 15 September, with previews from 12 September, and runs until 7 October.
