Tapestry Dance Company presents the premiere of TIME

(Austin, TX) – Tapestry Dance Company, North America’s only repertory tap dance company presents the premiere of Acia Gray’s TIME – A Journey Toward Present Grace.

“It's been a few seasons since Tapestry Dance Company has tackled a premiere that deals with a topic other than an historical perspective or tribute to the incredible history and legacy of tap dance. With "The Souls of Our Feet"" and "April Fools" being two of those critically acclaimed and successful examples, returning to my love of contemporary and theatrical work has been a wonderful journey over the last few weeks. This ensemble creation shows a beautiful diversity to the company that is rarely seen in performance. I'm honored to have such a creative "team" in place to play with. I can't wait to witness the final product on opening night” –Acia Gray, Artistic Director

Working in a collaborative playground with the dancers of Tapestry, this new work "Time" presents a rhythm journey based on a concept and definition of "the manmade illusion of control we call time."

Where have we been, what are we doing, where are we going, and how do we get there? - are just some of the questions that have brought unique rhythmic responses not only from the pallet of director/choreographer Acia Gray but some of the best young tap dancers on the international stage today – the members of Tapestry Dance Company. Not only are these artists presenting new ensemble work within the entire evening but their own comedic as well as poignant choreography all responding to the challenge of the definition of time.

Review: THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD at Candlelight Music Theatre
by Greer Firestone - Mar 25, 2024

What did our critic think of TCandlelight Music Theatre normally plays it safe when scheduling a season. That’s’ why Aisle Say was surprised that “THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD” was part of this year’s season. And more so for the musical was written by Rupert Holmes, whose most prominent claim to fame was his #1 Billboard hit, the romantically funny tune, “The Pina Colada Song”. (To give Holmes his due, the musical won the Tony for Best Musical in 1986).HE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD at Candlelight Music Theatre?
