On Tuesday, May 7, Cole Escola will stop by Late Night with Seth Meyers to talk about his Off-Broadway (and soon Broadway) hit play Oh, Mary. The program airs 12:35/11:35c on NBC. It was recently announced that the play, written by Cole Escola and directed by Sam Pinkleton, will transfer to Broadway this summer, following its sold-out, twice-extended world premiere run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

According to reportsm Anthony Hopkins will be taking on another real-life figure by playing composer George Frideric Handel in a new biopic from Andrew Levitas, director of Minimata. The script for the film, titled The King of Covent Garden, was written by playwright and professor Tim Slover and centers on Handel while he creates his 1741 masterpiece, Messiah.

When we hear The Odd Couple, most people imagine the 1970s television series starring Walter Matthau and Art Carney. What some might not know was that it originated as a Neil Simon play on Broadway in 1965. After the success of the film and television versions, Simon adapted the play in 1985 to feature two female roommates, Florence Ungar and Olive Madison. Women’s Theatre Collective brings this play, The Odd Couple – Female Version, to the Ooley Theatre through May 5th.

The show opens May 3rd and runs through May 18th at The Blue Door in Culver City, CA. I decided to speak with Laurie about the creation and history of Rex & Friends, her experience working with people with disabilities, what motivated her to create this new jukebox musical, and the format for the show.
