Lookingglass Theatre Company announces casting for the world premiere of The Steadfast Tin Soldier: A Christmas Pantomime, from the story by Hans Christian Andersen, conceived and directed by Ensemble Member Mary Zimmerman. This family-friendly, holiday show runs November 7, 2018 - January 13, 2019 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. 

Patrick Barlow's adaption of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is coming to Theatre Tallahassee this December.

Providing a fresh take on Dickens's timeless A Christmas Carolis Charles Evered's AnActor's Carol. It tells the tale Hugh Pendleton, an actor drained of artistic passion or love for the theatre after having played the character of Scrooge one too many times. Pendleton encounters three ghosts of his own. A cast of 4 plays 17 characters in this hilarious new look at a classic that reminds us that the most jaded among us can find magic in the holiday season- and in the theater as well.

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, continues the cherished holiday tradition of presenting its well-loved production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol this year, onstage for the seventh holiday season. This time-honored tale of forgiveness plays 17 performances only, Saturday, December 1 through Sunday, December 23, 2018. After the show, audience members are invited to enjoy a cup of cider and take photos with the cast.

Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault announced that acclaimed Washington actor Craig Wallace will return to Ford's to perform the role of Ebenezer Scrooge for the company's holiday production of A Christmas Carol. Performances of the classic Charles Dickens story begin November 15 and continue for a six-and-a-half-week engagement through December 30, 2018. This "musically high-spirited" and "infectiously jolly" (The Washington Post) production is adapted by Michael Wilson and directed by Michael Baron.

Hailed for its "compelling and innovative programming (WQXR Radio)," dell'Arte Opera Ensemble today announced its 17th annual summer festival: Voices from the Tower exclusively featuring works composed by women.  The season will include the commissioned world premiere of Princess Maleine, with a libretto (based on the play by Maurice Maeterlinck) by Bea Goodman and music by Whitney George, and the first opera ever composed by a woman, La liberazione di Ruggiero by Francesca Caccini (1625), with a libretto by Ferdinando Saracinelli.  A scenes program will feature Cendrillon by Pauline Viardot and other operatic scenes by Thea Musgrave, Victoria Bond and others, and "Les Boulangers" will be a recital of songs featuring the works of Lili and Nadia Boulanger, their contemporaries and students.

Goodman Theatre adds to its 2018/2019 Season a limited engagement of St. Nicholas-an internationally-acclaimed major revival by London's Donmar Warehouse of Conor McPherson's 1997 intimate thriller, directed by Simon Evans. The monologue play stars Olivier Award-winning actor Brendan Coyle ("Mr. Bates" of the smash sensation Downton Abbey, for which he earned an Emmy Award nomination) in "a superlative, mesmerizing performance that's simply not to be missed" (The Arts Review). The U.S. premiere, which appears in the Goodman's 350-seat flexible Owen Theatre, follows two acclaimed recent appearances at the Donmar Warehouse and the Dublin Theatre Festival. The creative team includes Peter McKintosh (Set), Matt Daw (Lighting) and Christopher Shutt (Sound). Rose Theatre Kingston today announces the full cast for Hansel & Gretel, a new festive version with original music. Director of Learning and Participation, Ciaran McConville, returns with a new version of the Brothers' Grimm classic following last year's successful adaptation of Alice in Winterland. Rosie Jones directs a cast of local young actors from the Rose Youth Theatre led by a team of professional actors including Devon Black (Mother/Bear/Townsperson), Vanessa Fisher (Red/Townsperson), Elliot Fitzpatrick (Otto/Kabeljau), J.J. Henry (Gerhardt/Blue) and Georgina White (Circe). The production opens on Friday 14 December, with previews from Thursday 6 December, and runs until Sunday 6 January 2019.

Following three critically-acclaimed, sold-out seasons on stage in London's West End, Simon Callow (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shakespeare in Love) brings Charles Dickens' beloved classic A Christmas Carol to the big screen in December 2018. On Tuesday 11 December the stage-to-film adaptation, reimagined especially for cinema, will be released in 444 cinemas across the UK and Ireland by leading event cinema distributors CinemaLive.

Matthew Warchus' fourth season as Artistic Director of The Old Vic completes with an Arthur Miller double-bill, a World Premiere by Lucy Prebble and a special One Voice performance.
