National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced the line-up of new musicals for their 29th Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Thursday, October 19 and Friday, October 20, 2017 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). The Festival will kick off on Wednesday, October 18 with its celebrated concert, The 46th Minute.

North Carolina Theatre Conservatory, NC Theatre's flagship training program offering professional instruction in acting, voice and dance for ages three to adult, is excited to bring to the stage their production of Oklahoma!, July 7-9, 2017, at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater in downtown Raleigh. Growing up in the 1970's I can't tell you how many times I came across the boxed LP set, complete with booklet, that housed Tim Rice (lyrics) and Andrew Lloyd Webber's (music) classic, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. For those of us who grew up on the records, and even the movie version, it was a rock, pop, rhythm and blues, funk, and music hall influenced opera that produced a bumper crop of wildly tuneful and intriguing compositions. JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR opens The Muny's 99th season and it's a fabulously constructed and performed production that's jaw-droppingly amazing. Back in the day the songs themselves conjured up mental images that are unique to each individual, and on this stage they came alive anew, with loads of energy, and a heavy dose of anachronistic charm. The action is superb, the vocalists shine, the orchestra sounds fantastic, and I simply can't think of more uplifting way to spend an evening under the stars.

Old School Square Announces the 2017-18 Season of performances, lectures, exhibits, classes and workshops.

After auditioning performers in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre has confirmed casting for all five shows in the 67th Music Circus season. The cast is loaded with Broadway veterans-some of whom are making their Music Circus debuts-Tony Award nominees, and audience favorites from previous Music Circus productions.

The Minty Organization, the non-profit company which oversees The Minty Awards, held its biggest ceremony of the year, The 7th Annual Minty Awards, Sunday, June 4 at the historic St. George Theatre.  Over 1,100 attended the ceremony honoring excellence among the Staten Island Catholic High School's musical theatre productions.

Sharon Playhouse has announced complete casting for its 2017 Season. The season kicks off with MINOR CHARACTER: SIX TRANSLATIONS OF UNCLE VANYA, created by New Saloon (Morgan Green, Madeline Wise, and Milo Cramer), followed by FAR AWAY by Caryl Churchill (Love and Information). The season will conclude with a new, intimate chamber production of Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN. In a shift that begins this season, Morgan Green (William Shakespeare's Mom) will direct all three productions, showcasing the talents and range of the rising director.

The Muny announced today its ensemble and design teams for Jesus Christ Superstar, the opening production of its 99th season. Performance dates are set for June 12-18.
