Lyric Hammersmith Theatre has announced casting for the UK première of critically acclaimed smash hit comedy School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play by Jocelyn Bioh one of America's most exciting writers.

The eye-catching music video for “Charge It” was shot in Jamaica and directed by Savannah Baker (Usher, Sean Paul, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey) and evokes the colorful and lively energy that is to be expected of a Michaël Brun hit. The video features British-Jamaican TikTok sensations T & A Twinz who have amassed over 2.5 million likes.

The album is written and recorded by the band—lead singer Josh Kizka, guitarist Jake Kizka, bassist/keyboardist Sam Kizska and drummer Danny Wagner—alongside Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile). Recorded at the legendary RCA Studios in Nashville, the band utilized the large recording room.

PlayCo has extended Sarah Einspanier’s Lunch Bunch, directed by Tara Ahmadinejad and presented with Clubbed Thumb.

The DOWNTOWN URBAN ARTS FESTIVAL will present 16 plays (nine shorts and seven one-acts.) The festival kicks off on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6 when Savion Glover and Reg E. Manhattan Theatre Club’s world premiere The Best We Could (a family tragedy), written by Emily Feldman and directed by Daniel Aukin will now begin preview performances on Wednesday, February 8, at New York City Center – Stage I.

Performance Space New York has announced the Spring 2023 season of its Healing Series, the second part of its year-long reflection on the political potency of healing and the role performance plays in it, in the midst of what feels like a momentous shift in art-making to foreground modes and practices of care.

The funding means everything to us, especially with the setbacks we have had along the way. We have always believed in what we do and the young people, artists, and audiences we co-create with, represent and whose stories we tell. At last, we can plan with confidence knowing that our programme can happen because the funding is secured.

Playwright Lucas Hnath was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. Later his move to New York led him to study Pre-Med, but soon he changed his major to Dramatic Writing, where he studied at Tisch School for the Arts earning a BFA, and subsequently following an MFA. Hnath is the playwright of 10 Dramatic works. His Broadway Debut and most notably his best work A Doll's House Part 2, debuted on Broadway in April of 2017 and closed in September later that year. Commissioned by South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California, Hnath's contemporary spin/sequel to the Ibsen classic starred Laurie Metcalf, Chris Cooper, Jayne Houdyshell, and Condola Rashad. Metcalf later went on to win a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her portrayal of Nora Helmer. Subsequently, Hnath's work was also a nominee for Best Play at the time.

Recorded at Studio 4 Recording in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, Distant Populations was produced and engineered by Will Yip (The Menzingers, Code Orange, Defeater), and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Megadeth, Avenged Sevenfold). The album is the follow-up to the critically lauded 2017 release Interiors.

Singer-songwriter, vocal powerhouse and producer Grace Davies has released her new EP, It Wasn’t Perfect, But We Tried. Grace co-produced the EP with collaborator Toby Scott (​​Becky Hill, Galantis), completely self-producing two of the tracks, ‘Windows & Walls’ and previous single release ‘Already Gone’; the EP proves Grace a true multi-hyphenate.

ALEX: You were playing Ben, you weren't playing Benjamin. That's a big distinction. In the writing of THE LION in various iterations of the show, you turned your life into various crafted anecdotes for the best dramatic effect for the story. There's always gonna be a slight level of making the story a little bit more compelling for an audience. What we did is we took what's on the page and built a character around it. So we built the character of Ben out of the script organically, with Max in the rehearsal room, rather than trying to recreate who Benjamin was. We created Ben off the page.
