Huang Ruo’s artistically bold, viscerally devastating ANGEL ISLAND had its local debut the other night at BAM’s Harvey Theatre on Brooklyn’s Fulton Street, produced by Beth Morrison Projects (BMP) and BAM. Whether it be for a school production or community theater, the drama surrounding a cast list can be endless. Most of this drama sprouts from a misunderstanding of what truly goes into casting a show. Many people who are new to the theater world assume that the lead role goes to the “best” performer, however, this couldn’t be more untrue. 

Outer Critics' Circle award-nominated Royal Family Productions, a non-profit theatre company known for its innovative productions and development of new original work, will present a workshop run of a brand new chapter of the WOMEN ON FIRE series, subtitled Fair is Foul.

North Reading resident Greg Kalafatas was studying theater at the University of New Hampshire when a road trip with friends to see the Broadway production of “Hairspray” introduced him to a character that has become his dream role – Edna Turnblad, the  zaftig housewife-and-laundress with a big heart.
