Dean Drever, the acclaimed Canadian sculptor whose minimalist and abstract work can be enjoyed at famous landmarks throughout the country, such as Edmonton's famed Epcor Tower or the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, is a particularly exciting addition to the UREEQA Collection of Pledged Assets, as he is the first artist working in a physical art medium welcomed to the platform.

It’s been a little over a year since Vivek Shraya’s one-woman show HOW TO FAIL AS A POPSTAR debuted in front of a live audience. In that time, she’s released a novel, an anniversary edition of her 2010 collection of short stories ‘God Loves Hair’, and is just days away from the release of her latest project: a written adaptation of the play.

Returning from a long period of dormancy, theatre makes a comeback in Vancouver: better and safer than ever! At the Anvil Centre, the show: HEY VIOLA! Viola Desmond a?' the Soundtrack of a Life plays from October 15th to 25th. This production follows the life of Canadian civil rights activist: Viola Desmond highlighting her fight against racial injustice in Nova Scotia. Starring Krystle Dos Santos (Co-Creator) as Viola and direction by Tracey Power (Co-Creator), HEY VIOLA also incorporates 15 songs from Desmonda??s era. With musical accompaniment from local musicians Steven Charles (guitar/bass), Chris Davis (trumpet, drums, and piano), and Mary Ancheta (keyboard), Dos Santos will sing the night away while telling the story of a woman who sparked a movement across Canada. The newest solo show by award-winning actor and playwright Dan Hoyle, this hit is based on Hoyle's conversations with immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and border crossers of all kinds.

The Bucks County Playhouse is one of the most historic theaters in the country. From December 11th-22nd, Theatre in the Park will be presenting their 45th anniversary production of A Christmas Carol. I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing the show's playwright, Ira David Wood III, who is not only back directing this year, but he'll also be alternating the role of Ebenezer Scrooge with his oldest son, Ira David Wood IV.
