The Real Thing Photos - West End

Playwright/director Elia Schneider--born in Israel, raised in Venezuela and now an American citizen--is known for hauntingly visual productions that transcend language with strong imagery and a dreamlike fresco of movement and design. Her newest work, 'Citizens of the Gray or the Dark Thing that Sleeps Inside Me,' deals with the war of the sexes in the age of the #MeToo Movement. Hitherto, her theatrical productions have mostly emerged from ideas derived from Kafka. Now she is channeling Strindberg for a new work of ensemble creation with her Teatro Dramma. Theater for the New City will present the world premiere of the piece November 9 to 25.  It will be Schneider's Theater for the New City debut.

Main Street Theater (MST) continues its 40th Anniversary Season with the world premiere of 1946 by Houston playwright Thomas Hagemann. Main Street produced the world premiere of Mr. Hagemann's Breakfast at Eight in 2010 as well as the staged reading of 1946 in 2014. Scroll down for a sneak peek at the cast in costume!

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Kicking off its 26th Season, Lookingglass Theatre Company presents the World Premiere stage adaptation of Marguerite Duras' The North China Lover, translated byLeigh Hafrey and adapted and directed by Ensemble Member Heidi Stillman. Andrew Jackson, that guy on the twenty dollar bill and the United States' infamous seventh president, is alive and well in Houston. Remembered for the Indian Removal Act and initiating what would later be called Jacksonian Populism, this iconic badass president is the central character in Michael Friedman's comedic Wild West rock musical BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, which is being produced this month by Houston's Generations: A Theatre Company. George Brock, founding Artistic Director for Generations and Director of BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, assembled a panel of his cast, crew, and creative team to discuss the rip-roaringly raucous show and why you MUST see it!

Tracie Bennett will play Judy Garland in the West End premiere of Peter Quilter's End of the Rainbow. Directed by Terry Johnson, End of the Rainbow combines humour and heartbreak to capture both the drama of Garland's final performances in London and her controversial life off stage.

The Canadian Stage Company launches the 2009-2010 season with the Canadian premiere of the Broadway and West End hit Rock 'N' Roll by Tom Stoppard.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey kicks off its 2009 Season with a world premiere stage adaptation of Around the World in Eighty Days. Adapted for the stage by Bonnie J. Monte from the beloved novel by Jules Verne, this inventive production is an exhilarating treat for people of all ages. Around the World in Eighty Days began performances on April 29 and continues through May 24 at the Shakespeare Theatre's Main Stage - The F. M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Avenue at Lancaster Road in Madison.
