It's hard to tell who they hate more: the outside world, or each other. When the hapless local priest Father Welsh attempts to reconcile the brothers, things spin wildly and hilariously out of hand. The Lonesome West, Pacific Theatre's first guest production of the 2017-2018 season, highlights Martin McDonagh's pitch-black dialogue and wicked sense of humour, but also tests the boundaries of family, faith, and forgiveness. New Musical STRANGE LADIES Opens 10/14 at Berkeley City Club

The Central Works 2017 season concludes this Fall with Strange Ladies by Susan Sobeloff opening with a press night on Saturday October 14 running through November 12 (previews Oct 12 & 13) at the renowned Berkeley City Club. Strange Ladies is a Central Works Method Musical inspired by the Suffrage movement. The production is told with music of the period under the musical direction of Milissa Carey. 1917: a diverse group of Suffragists are fighting to gain the vote for women as the US entered World War I. Torn between loyalty to their political cause and loyalty to the war effort, these women each struggle to make difficult choices in a time of tremendous social upheaval. FISHSKIN TROUSERS Comes to Park Theatre

In the 1200AD Chronicon Anglicanum, Ralph of Coggeshall documented the tale of the Wild Man of Orford. Describing a naked wild man, covered in hair, the mysterious figure was caught in the nets of local fishermen around 1167. Mute and feral, the man was imprisoned in Orford Castle for six months before vanishing without a trace. Accounts of the era questioned if the captive was a merman, though it would be centuries until such a story could be reconsidered as a mental health problem. (more...)
