Meadowmount School of Music, the summer program for young string players in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, will hold its 79th session June 26 – August 11, 2023.

The International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD) in partnership with dance Immersion will honor Germaine Acogny, John Alleyne, Rosemary James, Don Jordan, and Ola Skanks at the 33rd Annual International Conference and Festival of Blacks in Dance, Globally Connected: What Does Our Tomorrow Hold?, being held on January 25-29, 2023 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Alice Abracen's powerful, award-winning play, The Covenant, treads a heart wrenching line through despair and dark humour. Beautifully crafted, the audience is transported to a heinous, immoral time in history that sadly rings too close to current and conceivable atrocities.

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the gripping tale of determination, hope, motivation, and inspiration, “From the Mississippi Delta,” written by Endesha Ida Mae Holland, Ph.D., and directed by Goldie E. Patrick, from October 18 - 30. The play was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and won a Los Angeles Drama-Logue Award.

Screenings will kick off with the Opening Night presentation of Mark Fletcher’s Patrick and the Whale, followed by the Centerpiece Selections of Ben Klein and Violet Columbus’ The Exiles and Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes, with Kathlyn Horan’s The Return of Tanya Tucker – Featuring Brandi Carlile screening on Closing Night.

Tickets to the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning revival touring production of A SOLDIER'S PLAY from Roundabout Theatre Company go on sale tomorrow, September 16, 2022 for the Dayton engagement February 14-19, 2023, at the Victoria Theatre. 'The Last Cyclist,' a uniquely immersive new film directed by Edward Einhorn that captures a stage performance of a rediscovered dark comedy written and performed once in the Nazi concentration camp Terezin in 1944, receives its broadcast premiere on THIRTEEN's Theater Close-Up on Tuesday August 16 at 9:30pm.

An original piece written by San Francisco resident Justin P. Lopez, “The Re-Education of Fernando Morales” will have a one night only staged reading on Saturday, August 20th.

What did out critic think? The essential attribute of the play, the combative romance of Benedick and Beatrice (Dylan Arredondo and Anna DiGiovanni), is the only truly sacred element of the play. Dylan Arredondo and Anna DiGiovanni, give these principals a full-throated presentation, Arredondo leaning heavily on physical comedy and DiGiovanni on the more cerebral element. In the end, their predicament is that in their merry combat each of them has painted themself into a corner; they need to become lovers but for all their formidable brains neither can do it without the help of friends and a development in the subplot that gives them an excuse to reset their relationship. This problem gives them a delicate palette of emotions to evince: scornful derisiveness, hesitancy, hypocrisy, passion, rueful candor. Arredondo and DiGiovanni serve these changes up charmingly.

Sarasota Opera has announced the lineup for the 2022 summer movie series: HD at the Opera House and Classic Movies at the Opera House. HD at the Opera House featuring filmed performances of opera and ballet from around the world will open on Sunday, May 22nd at 1:30 p.m. with Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London, with tickets at $22, and $20 for Sarasota Opera subscribers.

Opera Naples, one of Naples' leading performing arts organizations, has announced tickets are on sale for the II Festival Under the Stars. Conducted by Artistic Director Ramón Tebar and featuring the Naples Festival Orchestra, the II Festival Under the Stars will take place March 11-20 with performances at Cambier Park and the Wang Opera Center.

World-renowned operatic baritone Sherrill Milnes has been invited by Opera Naples to star as the narrator of their production of the Broadway classic, On the Town.
