The Seasonal Sessions program of original Australian music, cabaret, story, and comedy at Woodville Town Hall returns on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 August.

Michael Shannon will be making his directorial debut with Eric Larue, a movie based on the Brett Neveu play that debuted in 2002 at A Red Orchid Theatre in Chicago. Neveu is also adapting the script.

Second Stage Theater has announced two new productions for its upcoming 2022-23 Season. Tony Award-nominee Bess Wohl will return to the Tony Kiser Theater (305 West 43rd Street) this Fall with the New York premiere of CAMP SIEGFRIED. Spring 2023 will see the Broadway premiere of Larissa FastHorse's THE THANKSGIVING PLAY,

This Memorial Day Weekend, the legendary Tony Award winner Chita Rivera (The Rink, Kiss of the Spider Woman) and the Tony Award nominated song-and-dance man Tony Yazbeck (On the Town) bring Broadway to the Berkshires. 

Steppenwolf Theatre Company, the nation’s premier ensemble theater company, is opening its stunning new in-the-round Ensemble Theater in Honor of Helen Zell with ensemble member Yasen Peyankov’s extraordinarily funny and lyrical adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Seagull, April 28–June 12, 2022.

Memories are fickle things. We rehearse them, we shape them, and we eventually forget the original events and end up making new ones, filling the gaps with our experience of them rather than the actual occurrences. It’s the core concept of Shelagh Stephenson’s multi-awarded play, The Memory of Water. Premiered in 1996 on the Hampstead Theatre stage, it went on to win an Olivier in 2000, debut in the States, tour internationally, and even landed on the big screen in 2002 titled Before You Go directed by Lewis Gilbert.

New production images are today released for the brand-new musical adaptation of  Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved story The Smartest Giant in Town, published by Macmillan Children’s Books. 

The Al Hirschfeld Foundation is presenting its latest online exhibition, 'It Goes So Fast: Our Town by Hirschfeld.' Now live through May 15, the exhibition features Hirschfeld's reflections of the legendary Thornton Wilder drama featuring artists including Frances Conroy, Henry Fonda, Spalding Gray, Helen Hayes, and more.

This week, Through our Women in Theatre Through the Decades features, we are be highlighting the impact of women in theatre such as Sutton Foster, Kelli O'Hara, Kathleen Marshall, Lynn Nottage and more!

Participating in the “Our Town at the Playhouse” panel will be Howard Sherman, author; Anne Keefe, current Playhouse associate artist, and former associate artistic director with Joanne Woodward at the time of the Playhouse’s 2002 production of “Our Town”; and Jake Robards, who appeared in the Playhouse production. 

On today’s episode of 'Today on Broadway,' BroadwayRadio's Matt Tamanini talks to arts administrator, activist, and writer Howard Sherman. Sherman recently released his first book, “Another Day’s Begun: Thornton Wilder’s Our Town in the 21st Century” in which he presents oral histories of a dozen productions of the 1938 play that took place from 2002 through 2019.

Concord Theatricals has announced that it has secured exclusive licensing rights in North America to Our Town (Multilingual) by Thornton Wilder, with translations by Nilo Cruz and Jeff Augustin, for its Samuel French imprint.

And the theaters are closed. This last one stings the most, but the best Atlanta theaters are adapting to fill the void left by the absence of live theater. Wea??ve got drive-in cabarets. Wea??ve got outdoor opera. And wea??ve got a variety of online stream-from-home offerings, including the new Our Stage Onscreen Digital Series at Aurora Theatre, a series that brings performing arts to homebound season supporters and new audiences while providing a safe workspace for Atlanta theatre artists. The inaugural offering, streaming now through October 4 for a hefty $30 rental fee, is Barbaraa??s Blue Kitchen, a fun - if slightly underbaked - musical with a book, music, and lyrics by Lori Fisher. The small-cast musical works hard to conjure up a slice of homespun Southern life through portraits of workers and customers in a small Southern diner. A brave Chloe Kay, the actor who plays all of the characters in the diner, works hard to deliver an engaging evening of for-the-screen theater, but this first outing is hindered by technical challenges and, regrettably, by the fact that producing theater specifically for the screen is a tricky tricky business.

BroadwayWorld has learned that online rumors about a Broadway revival of Our Town are true. Producer Scott Rudin has plans to bring Thornton Wilder's play back to Broadway for the first time since 2002. Rudin has tapped Tony winner Bartlett Sher (To Kill a Mockingbird) to direct the play, which will be led by Dustin Hoffman, who last appeared on Broadway in 1990. A timeline for the production remains unknown.
