Westport Country Playhouse will stage the recent Off-Broadway hit, 'The Understudy,' a backstage comedy about a Hollywood action star rehearsing for a role on Broadway amid tensions with his understudy.  The cast includes Eric Bryant, Connecticut Critics Circle Award winner; Brett Dalton of ABC's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'; and Andrea Syglowski, award-winning actress. Running August 14 through September 1, the comedy is written by Theresa Rebeck, creator of NBC's show business drama, 'Smash,' and directed by David Kennedy, Westport Country Playhouse associate artistic director.

James Clements is a Scottish theatre-maker and actor based between New York and Glasgow. He is a Co-Artistic Director of What Will the Neighbors Say?, a new theatre company producing The Diana Tapes. After its premiere off-Broadway earlier this summer, this play - about the publication of Andrew Morton's Princess Diana book, Diana: Her True Story in Her Own Words - is making its UK premiere at the Stockwell Playhouse. RUTHLESS! is a musical spoof of show business with music by Marvin Laird and book and lyrics by Joel Paley that not only spoofs Broadway musicals, but is also a satire of non-musical movies about showbiz such as All About Eve. The musical premiered Off-Broadway in 1992. The show won the 1993 New York Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical.

Schimmel Center will present Tony and Pulitzer Prize nominee Anna Deavere Smith's Obie Award-winning solo performance, Notes From the Field, for one weekend only on Friday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Today, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in preparation for a two week run at the Royal Court in London. The production is directed by Leonard Foglia and features original music composed and performed by bassist Marcus Shelby who joins Ms. Smith on stage.

The Kentucky Center welcomes a hit Off-Broadway comedy in the hysterical, incisive Men are From Mars - Women are From Venus LIVE! This light-hearted theatrical comedy is based off the book by the same name, a 1992 New York Times #1 best-selling hit by John Gray. The show began in Paris in 2007, and has been a delight to audiences all over the world. Much like its namesake, this show explores the differences between the sexes through a series of vignettes that capture a wide range of relatable topics from dating to marriage. Gangsters and gamblers, missionary dolls, and showgirls turn the gamble of love into a high-energy musical when Musical Theatre West presents five-time Tony Award-winning musical Guys and Dolls, February 16 - March 4 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center.
