What do HAMILTON, THE HUMANS, DOUBT, SIDE MAN, THE WOLVES and AMERICAN IDIOT all have in common? They all started with New York Stage and Film (NYSAF). Since 1985, the non-profit's summer program, set at Vassar College, has presented a variety of readings, workshops and productions of in-development works.

SNAP! Productions and South High Magnet School have done it again. I don't know what it is about this collaboration, but they seem to have the magic touch.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association has announced the four conductors who will participate in the 2018/19 Dudamel Fellowship Program: Nuno Coelho, Stephen Mulligan, Elena Schwarz, and Jesus Uzcategui. Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel, together with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, created the Dudamel Fellowship Program in 2009 to provide a unique opportunity for promising young conductors from around the world to develop their craft and enrich their musical experience through personal mentorship and participation in the LA Phil's orchestral, education, and community programs.

Grammy and Brit Award winning musician Midge Ure returns to North America on a co-headline tour with old friend, and fellow Brit, Paul Young. The first leg of the 'Soundtrack of your Life' Tour starts this week and will run through the end of the month in Cincinnati, OH with more to be announced, including a west coast run in August. 

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network and O, The Oprah Magazine announced today the newest Oprah's Book Club selection, The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row by Anthony Ray Hinton with Lara Love Hardin, a revealing story of hope, love, justice, and the power of reading by a man who spent 30 years on death row for a crime he didn't commit.

Stanislav Ioudenitch, Artistic Director of Park International Center for Music (Park ICM), announced today that their 2018-2019 season would kick off in September with a new performance home, the 1900 Building in Mission Woods, Kansas. "For the first time, we will perform our entire season at the 1900 Building as we adore performing in their wonderful spaces," said Ioudenitch. "Now between their two fabulous concert halls and their delicious restaurant, classical music lovers can have a full evening of fine wines and food, and cap it off with our world-class musicians! The impressive list of headliners includes Judy Kuhn, Michelle Pawk, Mary Testa, Nancy Opel, Jennifer Simard, Mike McGowan and Jennifer Cody..Michael Rader, Artistic Director, today announced the casting for the historic theatre's 92nd season in Dennis, MA. The six-play schedule, running from June 12 - September1, 2018, features three plays and three musicals-including three Playhouse premieres-in a season featuring Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning shows and the premiere and Pre-National Tour Engagement of a new production of the classic movie Clue: On Stage.

Grammy and Brit Award winning musician Midge Ure will release his new album Orchestrated in North America on June 8th. This remarkable new album features stunningly reimagined orchestrated versions of Ultravox hits and Midge Ure classics including 'Vienna', 'Dancing with Tears In My Eyes', and 'If I Was'. Musician, singer-songwriter, producer and activist, Midge Ure has worn many musical hats over the years; however, working on a fully orchestrated album has been a new venture for Midge. Said Midge: 'The record took eighteen months to make, but a lifetime of work to achieve.' The set will be released by BMG on CD and clear vinyl.                                                                                                                                         

The Actors' Gang Presents ANGELS, DEVILS AND OTHER THINGS, an evening of eleven original short plays written and directed by The Actors' Gang ensemble that begins previews on Thursday, May 17, has its world premiere on Saturday, May 19 and runs through Saturday, June 16, 2018.

Powerhouse, the theater development program by Vassar and New York Stage and Film, has announced its 2018 season, according to Variety. The season will include new musicals by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, the duo behind Spring Awakening, as well as Jason Robert Brown.

In the annals of jazz history, few events have been more influential than the Jazz at the Philharmonic concert series, and the album series of the same name. From 1944 to 1957, pioneering impresario, Verve Records founder, Norman Granz organized a series of prestigious all-star concerts that featured a who's-who of the genre's most popular and influential artists. These shows were instrumental in raising jazz's public profile, and were among the first high-profile performances to feature racially mixed bands performing for integrated audiences.
