Rose Theatre Kingston today announces its autumn 2017 and spring 2018 season.

Mark Rylance, three-time Tony Award winner (Jerusalem, Boeing-Boeing, Twelfth Night) and Academy Award-winner (Bridge of Spies), will return to Broadway in the critically acclaimed Shakespeare's Globe production of FARINELLI AND THE KING, a new play with music by author and composer Claire van Kampen, it was announced today by producers Sonia Friedman, Shakespeare's Globe and Paula Marie Black.

Director Thomas Ostermeier's critically lauded Schaubuhne production of AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE by Henrik Ibsen will be presented on Broadway in the 2017-2018 season at a theater to be announced. The acclaimed version by Florian Borchmeyer & Thomas Ostermeier will have a new English adaptation by MacArthur 'Genius' Fellow Branden Jacobs-Jenkins.

Tony Award-nominee David Ives and STC Artistic Director Michael Kahn, the team that created the award-winning French 'trilogy' of The Liar, The Heir Apparent and The Metromaniacs, will unite once more to present a newly revamped version of Ives' The School For Lies at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street NW) from May 30-July 2, 2017.

A new season of The History of the World in 100 Performances with Adam Gopnik begins on Monday, April 3, at the David Rubenstein Atrium, with a look at the career of the great American soprano Leontyne Price. Joining Gopnik are internationally renowned soprano Renee Fleming and rising soprano Julia Bullock. Interspersed with audio and video clips, they will discuss Ms. Price's extraordinary career and the significance of the pioneering African-American soprano's role on the world's stages. Ms. Bullock will also sing several of Ms. Price's signature arias. The entire evening will be streamed on Facebook Live on Lincoln Center's Facebook Page.

Obsession, an adaptation of the Luchino Visconti film starring Oscar nominee Jude Law and directed by Tony and Olivier award winner Ivo van Hove, is the latest National Theatre Live screening to be announced and will be broadcast to cinemas from the Barbican Theatre in London on Thursday, May 11, 2017.

The Washington Stage Guild starts its 'Pearl Anniversary' season with a remount of one of America's favorite holiday stories in It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play. It's Christmas Eve, 1946, and we are the studio audience for a local radio station as its cast of voice actors and one very busy sound effects man broadcast the beloved tale of George Bailey and his encounter with Clarence, his guardian angel. This 'radio play-within-a-play' re-imagines the familiar movie as it would have been heard in homes all over America in the late 40s, when just such a broadcast took place. Playwright

Yale Repertory Theatre, celebrating 50 years of daring artists, bold choices, and adventurous audiences, presents the world premiere of Scenes from Court Life, or the whipping boy and his prince by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Mark Wing-Davey, now through October 22 at Yale University Theatre (222 York Street). The Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee will pay tribute to Michael Halberstam at the 2016 Equity Jeff Awards Ceremony on Monday, October 17.  The Artistic Director of Writers Theatre since its inception in 1992 is being honored for outstanding theatrical accomplishments and contributions to Chicagoland theatre for the past 25 years.

In 1991, against all naysayers, Geoff Elliott & Julia Rodriguez-Elliott started a resident theatre company in Los Angeles to perform - the classics. The married couple, together with fellow American Conservatory Theatre alumni Art Manke, inaugurated A Noise Within. Today the Elliotts run ANW as co-producing artistic directors.

One of the finest actors of his generation, Jeremy Irvine (Steven Spielberg's War Horse, The Railway Man, Now is Good and forthcoming films Fallen, Billionaire Boys Club, and This Beautiful Fantastic) will make his West End debut in Sam Shepard's Pulitzer & Obie prize winning play, Buried Child.

Francesca Annis, Ron Cook and Deborah Findlay have been cast in Lucy Kirkwood's new play The Children which runs in the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Downstairs 17 November 2016 - 14 January 2017 with Press Night on Thursday 24 November. Directed by James Macdonald. Andrew Bovell's When the Rain Stops Falling continues the Wilma Theater's 2016-17 season. A fish falls from the sky in the year 2039. A man named Gabriel prepares to meet his adult son after being estranged for twenty years. He wonders why his son is coming and what he wants: to know who he is? Where he comes from? Where he belongs? Gabriel knows nothing; his own past escapes him. As the story of Gabriel's family unfolds onstage, his ancestors come alive around him to fill in the gaps. With its web of intricately overlapping connections, When the Rain Stops Falling follows four generations of a family from 1959 to 2039, and from London to Australia. As this family and their world evolve over time, one question remains: in the face of climate change, can we break our habits and change the way we live?
