Don't Call It a Journey at The Auditorium at University Heights

A solo performance written and co-created by Julieta Vitullo and performed and co-created by Iveliz Martel, exploring what remains after loss through objects, inside jokes, and mistranslations between Spanish and English. Told using analog technologies like a tape recorder, an overhead projector, and a rotary phone, the show moves between a Seattle kitchen, a hospital room, and a dreamscape. The piece grew out of a friendship between Vitullo and Martel as they each navigated cancer diagnoses in their families. Funny and heartbreaking, the play reflects that grief does not travel in a straight line.
