Vanderbilt University Theatre will present Я.U.ROBOT, a retro-futurist sci-fi satire, from April 3-11, 2026 at Neely Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

One of the most infamous figures in history, Judas Iscariot, leads a cast of icons in Broadway at Music Circus’ staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar. Kyle Taylor Parker returns to the round as Judas and, under Glenn Casale’s direction, looks forward to entertaining Sacramento beginning March 13th. Parker was last seen at Music Circus in 2024’s Jersey Boys as Hal Miller, and we are so glad he’s back. BroadwayWorld spoke to him about his prolific career, getting into character to play a villain, and what makes this re-imagining of the classic so special.

The 2026 Helen Hayes Award nominations have been announced, recognizing outstanding achievement in Washington-area professional theatre. Arena Stage, Signature Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Round House Theatre, and dozens of regional companies are represented across performance, direction, design, and production categories. The awards highlight the breadth of theatre work presented throughout the D.C. metropolitan area.

The Kravis Center has announced its February lineup, featuring MJ and Kim’s Convenience. The month includes Broadway, classical concerts, cabaret, film, and family programming.

Get a first look at the Canadian premiere of Kimberly Akimbo, which stars Louise Pitre in the title role at Toronto's CAA Theatre through February 8, 2026. 

Sunday night was the Toronto opening of the Canadian premiere of KIMBERLY AKIMBO – the 2023 Tony Award winner for Best Musical. Directed by Robert McQueen, this quirky musical boasts a fabulous cast and is chock full of heart. With an incredibly strong (and Tony Award Winning) book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, this musical weaves together comedy and drama in the same way that real life does. Offering performances that are both funny and heartbreaking, KIMBERLY AKIMBO is a very special show that is not to be missed.

Julie Benko is currently appearing as Sarah Brown in GUYS AND DOLLS at Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Harman Hall in Washington, D.C., where the production has been extended and will now run through January 8. A newly released video captures Benko performing “If I Were a Bell” opposite Jacob Dickey as Sky Masterson.

Voting is now open for BroadwayWorld's Next On Stage, Broadway's biggest national competition for high school and college students. The latest round of voting begins today, December 15 and ends at 11:59pm ET on Wednesday, December 17. The next results shows (announcing the Top 3 finalists in both age categories) will air on Friday, Decmber 19 at 7pm and 9pm ET.
