Last night, Broadway’s New Amsterdam Theatre reopened with Live at The New Am: A Benefit Concert for The Actors Fund, marking one of the first events on Broadway since the shutdown and the first Broadway performance to hire actors on an Equity contract, the union of Broadway performers. This past year since Broadway has been shut down, The Actors Fund has distributed over $19 million in cash assistance to members of the industry.
The Actors Fund and affordable housing developer Thomas Safran & Associates, broke ground on The Hollywood Arts Collective, a $120 million project that will include 151 units of affordable housing for artists, the Glorya Kaufman Theater, rehearsal studios, non-profit arts office space and a new home for The Actors Fund Western Region Headquarters.
