flights for future generations is a hybrid of theatre, performance art, puppetry and dance that weaves the histories of women aviators and spiritualists in America through movement, text, sound and analogue devices. Presented by Chicago-based performance artist Lindsey Barlag Thornton, the work draws from aviation pioneers like Bessie Coleman and Sally Ride alongside mystics like Hilma af Klint, layering these figures with Thornton's personal family history — her great-grandmother was one of America's earliest female glider pilots and her great-aunt spoke to the dead. The show is a lo-fi, intimate experience powered by vintage cassette players, children's record players and portable slide projectors, creating a tactile, time-bending atmosphere that meditates on transmission across generations.
