Long-standing Edinburgh Comedy Awards Director Nica Burns, has today announced the nominees for the biggest prizes in live comedy, Sky Best Comedy Show and DLT Entertainment Best Newcomer celebrating the best up-and-coming comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the Victoria Wood Award to be announced on Saturday 26th August.

Sofie Hagen will make you laugh so hard that, when I saw her show last night, I didn't stop for the entire hour. In fact, I made ridiculous noises, like a donkey, trying to recover myself from her witty brand of comedy.
Throughout the hour it honestly seems as though the person who finds Davis funniest is Laura Davis herself. Luckily for any of the nonbelievers in the room she assures us that she's been doing stand-up for a long time and that she is very good at it. But is she trying to convince us or herself?
