Slugs at Pleasance Courtyard - Cellar

Slugs is a solo performance written and performed by Tobias Graham, exploring gay shame, desire, memory, and the ethics of storytelling. The piece follows Tobi through a kaleidoscopic series of memories spanning queer adolescence, illicit encounters, and a recent confusing sexual encounter that resurfaces long-buried shame, manifesting as slugs covering him head-to-toe. As Tobi's narrative grows increasingly elaborate, an unexpected interruption fractures the authority of his own account, collapsing the one-man show format and questioning the ethics of turning complicated shared experiences into neat, morally simplistic narratives. Semi-autobiographical and informed by moments in Graham's own life, the production uses visceral imagery and specialist SFX designers from film and television to create psychological unease.
