Albatross, written by George Devine and Bruntwood Prize winner Martha Loader and directed by Patrick Morris, is a new play commissioned by Menagerie Theatre that follows glaciologist Alice and her mother Eve as they navigate unspoken truths and unasked favours. When Alice returns home in the middle of the night from a stint in Antarctica, she is met with catastrophic floods and unexpected romance in her absence, while her daughter Alba sleeps unaware of her return. Rooted in two years of research and interviews with Antarctic researchers, including those from the British Antarctic Survey, the play explores intergenerational responsibility and the weight of what one generation owes the next. The cast features Caroline Rippin as Alice, Agnes Lillis as Eve, and Patrick Morris as Martin.
