EDINBURGH 2019: Two Hearts Q&A

BWW catches up with Two Hearts to chat about bringing The Comeback Tour to the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Tell us a bit about Two Hearts.
We're a pop-music/comedy duo from New Zealand who perform extravagant arena concerts in small theatres. We (Joseph and Laura) formed the duo as friends and have since become a real-life couple for both romantic reasons and Tour cost-cutting reasons. Like all pop-stars, we believe that catchy, sexy music is all that is required to fix every single one of the world's problems.
What sets it apart from other shows at the festival?
Distractingly catchy melodies. Distractingly attractive back-up dancers. Distracting amounts of confetti. You'll be constantly distracted!
Who writes the songs?
We write all the songs together - we team up on lyrics + melody and then spend about 30 hours watching YouTube tutorials on how to make the backing tracks do cool wooshy sounds.
Why did you decide to return to Edinburgh on your comeback tour?
Well, it's fundamental that in a Comeback Tour you "come back" to a place you've already been, otherwise it is merely a Tour. Edinburgh is one of the 3 cities outside NZ we have performed in so we really didn't have much choice. It's unfortunate we hadn't previously performed in cities closer to home it would have made the Comeback Tour much less expensive.
Who would you recommend comes to see it?
If you love pop music, then it's a "loving homage", if you hate pop music, then consider it "biting satire". It's for everyone! Apart from children I guess, they probably wouldn't get it.
