The Still Point at SOMArts Cultural Center

The Still Point is an immersive multimedia dance-theater performance that transforms the SOMArts Bay Gallery into a large-scale multi-sensory environment exploring themes of fragmentation and reconciliation. Audience members are divided into four groups and guided through four distinct sensory environments, each inhabited by performers trapped within repeating cycles of ritual and routine, drawing inspiration from Tibetan Buddhist teachings of the Bardo and T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets. The work is directed and choreographed by Sophia Stoller, founder of Iris Company, with visual design by Aron Altmark and set and costume design by Pamela Rodriguez-Montero. The cast includes artists with credits spanning immersive productions with Punchdrunk, Third Rail Projects, and Emursive, as well as Broadway productions.
