DEATHTRAP Comes To Claremont Theatre

Inland Valley Repertory Theater company (IVRT) is pleased to conclude the 2018 Season with Ira Levin's 1978 DEATHTRAP, which is known as a play with many plot twists or 'a play within a play.' DEATHTRAP holds the record for the longest-running comedy-thriller on Broadway and was nominated for four Tony Awards. The production will run October 24 through November 6 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Candlelight Pavilion in Claremont.

IVRT is proud to welcome back director Gary Krinke, as he has directed throughout Southern California for many years, including IVRT's 2017 production of AMADEUS. IVRT Company Members Michael Buczynski and Kim Eberhardt are featured in production as husband and wife. IVRT audiences may remember Michael in IVRT's SOUVENIR or LEND ME A TENOR and Kim in the most recent production of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY. DEATHTRAP was adapted into a film starring Christopher Reeve, Michael Caine and Dyan Cannon in 1982. The story centers around Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, who is struggling to overcome a dry spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds. His possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a nearby college - a thriller which Sidney recognizes as a potential Broadway hit. Sidney's plan, which he devises with his wife's help, is to offer collaboration to the student, an idea which the younger man quickly accepts. Thereafter suspense mounts steadily as the plot begins to twist and turn with devilish cleverness, and with such thrills and laughter, that the audience be enthralled until the final and startling moments of the play.

DEATHTRAP runs for 5 performances, on Tuesday, October 30 and November 5 at 7:30pm, and on Wednesday, October 24 at 7:30pm, and November 6 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. Tickets are $30 for evening performances and $25 for matinee.
