After living together for a few months Miles feels it’s time for his girlfriend, Kelly, to meet his parents although Kelly has strong concerns Miles doesn’t feel it necessary to inform his parents she is black. He truly believes that race should not present itself as a precondition or caveat to developing friendships or serious relationships with the opposite sex. He doesn’t want to live his life around what other people think is considered proper in our contemporary society. As Kelly does feel the same she still is uncomfortable about meeting his parents and discusses this quagmire with her white best friend Ashley. Conversely, Miles best friend, Eugene, who is black, understands the weight now placed on Kelly and tries to convince Miles to look at this scenario from a different perspective. This comedic play addresses the misguided perception - we all have to some degree - of each other because of the color of our skin.
