About the show
ANGHER is a cabaret concert and fundraiser celebrating feminine rage. All proceeds will benefit U.R.G.E. (Unite for Reproductive and Gender Equity) in their fight to protect bodily autonomy and freedom of expression across the gender spectrum.
This show will star a cast of female, femme-identifying, and TGNC (trans/gender non-conforming) singers from across the New York music scene--from Broadway national tours to iconic NYC piano bar and cabaret venues such as The Duplex and The Stonewall Inn. Featuring songs by artists such as Alanis Morissette, Sabrina Carpenter, Aretha Franklin, Heart, Olivia Rodrigo, and so much more, including an original new release by rising NYC pop star and singer-songwriter Noah Landry, and unique arrangements of classic radio hits by Kennen Jakhan Butler.
"I've been looking for ways to marry art and activism," says producer Samantha Streich. "It's something I'm very passionate about. If I can do a little bit of good while showcasing some of my talented friends and colleagues in the process, why shouldn't I?"
Samantha previously produced her first cabaret, I.C.E. BREAKERS: An Activist Cabaret, a charity concert that successfully raised over $1600 for the Immigrant Defense Project, at The Duplex Cabaret in April of this year. She hopes to raise even more this time around.
This show was originally envisioned as a solo cabaret, but Samantha soon realized it worked better as an ensemble piece. "I've wanted to do a show like this since Roe v. Wade was overturned back in 2022. It came back to me during the onslaught of transphobic "bathroom bills" we saw a few years ago. I thought it would be great to have a range of performers across the spectrum of womanhood. It was important to me to platform singers whose identities aligned with femininity, because when womanhood and femininity are under attack, it harms us all."
ANGHER will feature Liza Brown, Alana Diaz (Stonewall, Brandy's, Duplex NYC), Allison Griffith (Stonewall All-Stars), Lauren Fitzgerald, Lindsey Johr (I Can Cook Too), Noah Landry (Duplex NYC, Red Eye), Madeline Marquis (Duplex NYC), Carolyn Meade (Duplex NYC), Tara O’Donnell (Duplex NYC), KJ Pangantihon (Seussical Nat'l Tour, Duplex NYC), Taylor Pattie (Stonewall), Hannah Rue (Duplex NYC), Erich W. Schleck (Jesus Christ Superstar Nat'l & Asia Tours, Blippi West End), Sax Sells, Samantha Streich (Duplex NYC), and T.Rex (Duplex NYC) on vocals.
