Ashland Productions in Maplewood, Minnesota, is currently staging 'Sweeney Todd' with music by Stephen Sondheim. This dark tale follows a barber who returns to 19th-century London, seeking revenge on the corrupt judge who framed him and ruined his family. Upon his return, he meets Mrs. Lovett, a pie shop owner, and sets up his barber shop above her establishment, setting off a series of grisly events.

The pie shop is closing up! The Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd, currently starring Aaron Tveit and Sutton Foster, is set to close its doors after the pair's previously set departure date of May 5.

Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, formerly known as Benjamin Barker, who returns to nineteenth century London, seeking revenge against the judge who framed him many years ago. Renaming himself Sweeney Todd, the now-mad man vows revenge against all who wronged him, applying his razor to unlucky customers and shuttling the bodies down to Mrs. Lovett’s pie shop to supply the pies with cheap, fresh meat. Though many unfortunate souls fall to his blade, Todd will not find satisfaction until he slits the judge’s throat and obtains his final revenge.

Landon and Barkdoll’s powerful performances as Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney Todd drive the action forward and catch the audience up in the action and emotion of the story. The skillful vocals and heartfelt performances of the cast at Open Stage make this production of Sweeney Todd one you won’t want to miss.

Lyric Stage will present Sweeney Todd from March 15 to April 7. These performances will be presented at Lyric Stage’s new studio stage.

Open Stage presents Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, a razor-sharp musical thriller directed by Stuart Landon. This blood-curdling musical tells the story of a barber seeking revenge against those who wronged him.

Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford took their final bows in Sweeney Todd on Broadway on January 14. Following their last curtain call, the stars gave a speech on stage at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Check out the video here!
