Fountain Hills Theatre Celebrates 30th Anniversary with 30 YEARS- THE SHOW!

In celebration of its thirtieth anniversary, Fountain Hills Theater is opening its 2016-17 season with 30 Years - The Show!  a high-energy musical retrospective of  Fountain Hills Theater's extraordinary 30 year history. Begun as the brainchild of Sandi McGee in 1986, FHT has since grown into one of the most respected and highest award-winning non-professional theaters in the Valley under the leadership of Val Stasik and the dedicated staff. Author and director Peter J. Hill, promises that this exciting, multi-media musical production will showcase - however briefly - at least one song from each of the over 100 musicals presented by FHT since they began.   Huge shows like Cats, Miss Saigon and The Producers, as well as smaller productions like Fantasticks, I Do, I Do and even the half-dozen world premier musicals will be represented.  Thirty of FHT audiences' favorite performers are returning to recreatesome of their finest roles, including Alex Gonzalez, Patrick Russo and Noel Irick.

It is in his honor that tradition is continued by presenting the work of five playwrights and three young playwrights. The New Works Festival is a platform for artists to launch their new works. Each work will be performed as a staged reading.

Prescott Center for the Arts Names New Executive Director

Prescott Center for the Arts has announced the hiring of their new Executive Director.  After a national search that yielded fourteen applicants and the interviews of five finalists, Ms. Robyn Allen, the current interim ED, was selected in an 8 to 1 vote by the PCA Search Committee chaired by PCA Board of Directors member, Ms. Kate Howell.

The Nash Names New Managing Director

Beginning July 1, she will join Executive Director Joel Robin Goldenthal in this newly-created position to form a management partnership for the Phoenix performance and education center that Downbeat Magazine has named 'one of the top jazz venues in the world.'

California Symphony to Join Cirque de la Symphonie for Special Event, Today

WALNUT CREEK, CA (February 9, 2016) - The aerialists, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, strongmen and acrobats of Cirque de la Symphonie join the California Symphony and Music Director Donato Cabrera in the Orchestra's annual fundraising special event, Cirque du Symphonie Presented by Steadauto.com, Today, June 18 at 7:30 pm at the historic and beautiful Scottish Rite Center in Oakland. For this performance, the Cirque production team and California Symphony have developed a unique program specifically for the Orchestra and the special characteristics of the Scottish Rite Center. The artists of Cirque de la Symphonie will execute their spectacular feats to music ranging from Bizet's Carmen to John Williams (music from Indiana Jones and Superman), Leonard Bernstein's Candide Overture, Arturo Marquez's Danzon No. 2, Debussy's Clair du lune, Offenbach's Can-Can No. 4, and Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 6, and the orchestra plays music from Aaron Copland (Rodeo from Hoe-Down), Richard Rodgers (Carousel Waltz), and Strauss (Emperor Waltz). The Brelby Theatre Company located in Historic Downtown Glendale, is unveiling the world premiere of After Hours at Rosie's Pub, a script created by the seven women of the Brelby ensemble. The 2016 Brelby Women's Writer's Circle, comprised of Shelby Maticic, Megan O'Connor, Carolyn McBurney, Jessie Tully, Mia Passarella, Melody Chrispen and April Rideout, spent several months designing a unique world and creating the original storyline that includes numerous songs and dance numbers. This show is the final performance at Brelby's current studio, before they transition to their new home in Catlin Court.

Prescott Center for the Arts Announces First Summer Repertory Season

Prescott Center for the Arts proudly announces its first Summer Repertory Theatre Season entitled Lunacy, Love and Laughter! opening July 8th and running through August 14th.  This season PCA's Repertory is comprised of a company of volunteer directors, actors, technical artists and visual artists who are producing three exciting comedies: The madcap lunacy of Shakespeare Abridged by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Wingfield, directed by Bruce Lanning; the poetic magical realism in love and humor of The Rainmaker by N. Richard Nash directed by Catherine Miller Hahn and the funny laugh- packed American treatment of Anton Chekov's plays in The Good Doctor by Neil "Doc" Simon, directed by Paul Epoch.  The volunteer company members have been working hard for months to produce this labor of summer love of theatre.  It is PCA's hope that this Repertory Season will be a refreshing slate of light and funny fare for our beloved patrons while also serving as a reflection of the excellence in the arts that PCA has to offer Prescott tourists.
