  The producers of Spring Awakening, the winner of  8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, are proud to announce the cast of the First National Touring Company.  Led by Kyle Riabko as Melchior and Blake Bashoff as Moritz who come directly from the Broadway company, the cast is comprised of newly discovered young talent from across North America.  Joining Riabko at the center of the story is Christy Altomare as Wendla, with Steffi D opposite Bashoff as Ilse.

A statement from the producers says, "As we embark on our first tour across the United States and Canada, we are thrilled to announce a cast of exceptionally gifted young actors.  We are continually amazed and delighted at the breadth of their talent and are excited for audiences coast to coast to have the opportunity to experience such exhilarating performances."

Spring Awakening will launch a multi-city national tour beginning in the Curran Theatre in San Francisco on September 4th as part of the SHN Best of Broadway Series.  A pre-tour west coast premiere will take place mid August in San Diego in the historic Balboa Theatre.

Cities in the first year of the tour include: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Tempe, Houston, Tampa, Cleveland, Columbus, Des Moines, East Lansing, St. Louis, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C, Toronto, Boston and Chicago.

Spring Awakening continues its record-breaking run at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, 230 West 49th Street. The musical, with music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater is choreographed by Bill T. Jones, and directed by Michael Mayer.  The show is the winner of 8 2007 Tony Awards including Best Musical.
