Pirate Queens will be featured at the 2024 Philadelphia FringeArts Festival, showcasing an 18th-century tale centered on Mary Read, who disguises herself as a boy and falls in love with fellow pirate Anne Bonny after being captured. Produced by Cannonball and written by lead artist Brooke Shilling, the performance is characterized by its minimalist approach, with three actors—Shilling, Elena Nahrmann, and Connor Hogan—performing on a small wooden crate and using mime to depict props and settings. This production marks the first full staging of the play, having previously appeared at the Cannonball Miniball Festival. The show runs from September 4 to September 14 at Christ Church Neighborhood House.
