Written by local San Diegans Jonathan Rosenberg and Brad Ross, with additional contributions by Steve Gunderson and Javier Velasco, the debut production chronicles the success of Gold Star Recording Studios through the history of rock 'n' roll.
The Old Globe today presents the Globe's 21st annual production of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas!The holiday musical will run November 3 - December 29 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Previews run November 3 - November 7. Opening night is Thursday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. The Grinch isdirected by James Vasquez, with book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin. The original production of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas! was conceived and directed by Jack O'Brien with additional lyrics by Theodor S. Geisel, additional music by Albert Hague, and original choreography by John DeLuca.

Currently playing at the La Jolla Playhouse is The Nightingale, by the creative team behind the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening: Steven Sater (book and lyrics) and Duncan Sheik (music). Directed by Tony Award nominee Moises Kaufman (33 Variations, I Am My Own Wife), the production runs July 10 - August 5, 2012 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. The theatre recently held an open discussion about the color-blind casting of the show, which has gotten attention amoungst the Asian-American community. SAN DIEGO REPERTORY THEATRE in partnership with THE SAN DIEGO SCHOOL OF CREATIVE AND PERFORMING ARTS (SCPA) is proud to present Southern California's first regional production of the hit musical comedy HAIRSPRAY. For the first time in local theatre history, high school students from SCPA will join professional actors on stage for this big fat, gorgeous musical. Directed by San Diego REP Artistic Director SAM WOODHOUSE with assistance from SCPA's Artistic Director RICHARD TRUJILLO, the REP's presentation of HAIRSPRAY will mark the first time the musical has been produced as a regional theatre production in Southern California. Performances continue through Sunday, August 15, 2010.
