A Tony Award winner gears up for a new musical!

Tony Award-winning Broadway superstar Alice Ripley is set to appear in a brand new night of music titled EVERYBODY'S TALKIN': THE MUSIC OF HARRY NILSSON alongside fellow Tony Award winner Gregory Jbara at San Diego Rep this month and a brand new interview with Ripley about the production is now available.

Ripley reveals of the show, "[It's] the antidote [to NEXT TO NORMAL]. Not that NEXT TO NORMAL needs an antidote. But if anyone needs to recover from that, this is the place to go."

Furthermore, Ripley says of Nilsson, "I was aware at an early age that he was one of the people I wanted to find out more about, emulate, copy, steal from, drown myself in his music and maybe someday have a personal connection to him."

Additionally, Ripley shares, "If someone were to put a (musical) book on this, it would be like putting a sculpture behind glass... The book would probably get in the way, because Nilsson's not here to write it. And I don't want to hear anybody else's words but his."

EVERYBODY'S TALKIN' is described as follows: "When the Beatles were asked to name their favorite American musical artist at a press conference in New York, they shouted out "NILSSON!" Called "the most famously anonymous composer and performer of our time," this two-time Grammy Award winner (and legendary hell-raiser) is best known for "Everybody's Talkin' at me...," "Can't live, if living is without you...," "One is the loneliest number...," and "You put the lime in the coconut...." Now his special genius has captured the imagination of Steve Gunderson and Javier Velasco - the award-winning team that brought you Suds: The Rockin' 60s Musical Soap Opera and Back to Bacharach and David. Gunderson and Velasco have crafted Nilsson's evocative and heartfelt repertoire into a song cycle that explores the incredible journey from innocence to adulthood through the many stages of love. Tony Award-winners Gregory Jbara and Alice Ripley are the stars. Jbara created Dad in Billy Elliot the Musical on Broadway and also plays Deputy Commissioner Moore on the TV show "Blue Bloods." Ripley originated leading roles in a number of Broadway musicals, including Side Show and the Pulitzer Prize-winning Next to Normal. This is a world premiere musical event not to be missed!
