Two River Theater has released a first look at Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, adapted and directed by Justin Emeka. This world premiere adaptation reimagines the classic drama in 1950s suburban New Jersey, weaving Black culture into one of the most influential plays ever written. The production runs February 21 through March 15, 2026, in the Joan and Robert Rechnitz Theater.

Starring André De Shields (Hadestown, the Wiz) and Ato Blankson-Wood (Cabaret, Hamlet, Slave Play), the podcast is directed by Tony Award-winner Rachel Chavkin (Lempicka, Hadestown), Zhailon Levingston (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Chicken & Biscuits), and Keenan Tyler Oliphant (Hadestown, The Broken Ear Set-list). The 2017 production at the Globe was the most successful in the theatre’s history, and all of the principal cast members return to voice their roles in one of the greatest plays ever written. Many of the ensemble also return, along with two new cast members, to round out the company.

This weekend, Glenda Jackson was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Lillys, an organization that honors women in the theater. Jackson was honored onstage following a performance of King Lear, by her costar Elizabeth Marvel.

'King Lear' star Ruth Wilson was a guest on last night's episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. During the interview, Wilson recalled when she was in the show 'Header' at the National Theatre and she had to think fast during a live performance when someone from the audience called out, 'Is there a doctor in the house?'

One of Shakespeare's greatest dramas officially returned to Broadway last night. Led by two-time Academy Award winner, two-time Emmy Award winner, and 2018 Tony Award winner Glenda Jackson, King Lear, under the direction of Sam Gold, opened at the Cort Theatre, where it will play through Sunday, July 7, 2019.
