They worked with with Hip-Hop royalty like Ms. Lauryn Hill, Busta Rhymes, Nas, RZA, and Ghostface Killah, while also recruiting Philippa Soo, Billy Porter, Jasmine Cephas Jones, and more. Following news that two major sponsors, Delta Air Lines and Bank of America had pulled financial support for The Public Theater in response to their Donald Trump-Themed Shakespeare in the Park production of JULIUS CAESAR, the Public Theater has released a statement.

On Sunday night, Delta Air Lines announced that they were ending their four-year-old sponsorship agreement with the Public Theater over their current Shakespeare in the Park production of JULIUS CAESAR. The play, which is set to open at Central Park's Delacorte Theatre on Monday, depicts the Roman dictator in a way that calls to mind President Donald Trump.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center celebrated the 16th annual Monte Cristo Awardceremony with a presentation of the honor to award-winning stage and film director, playwright, and actor George C. Wolfe last night at the Edison Ballroom. The O'Neill annually bestows its Monte Cristo Award on a prominent theater artist whose lifetime work has had an extraordinary impact on American theater. The gala event supports the Center's commitment to developing new work and new artists for the stage.

Currently playing at the La Jolla Playhouse is The Nightingale, by the creative team behind the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening: Steven Sater (book and lyrics) and Duncan Sheik (music). Directed by Tony Award nominee Moises Kaufman (33 Variations, I Am My Own Wife), the production runs July 10 - August 5, 2012 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. The theatre recently held an open discussion about the color-blind casting of the show, which has gotten attention amoungst the Asian-American community.
