The Marriott Theatre's 2023 season launches with the family-friendly musical adventure, BIG FISH, now on stage through March 19, 2023. Get a first look at the production.

Today we rewind to 2013, when Big Fish arrived on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre, where it played for 98 performances. With music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by John August, the musical is based on Daniel Wallace's 1998 novel, Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions, and the 2003 film.

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, BIG FISH centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest, and then some!

Director Eric Woodall is no stranger to the musical, BIG FISH. In fact, he was the casting director for the Broadway musical version which opened in 2013. Now he is bringing his experience with the production to Theatre Raleigh. The show, which opens next week, features Theatre Raleigh's Artistic Director, Lauren Kennedy as Sandra. Woodall and Kennedy sat down with me to discuss BIG FISH, their Southern roots, and family. Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma presents BIG FISH, a new Broadway musical with a larger than life story, this summer at the Civic Center Music Hall, which ran on Broadway from October to December, 2013.  Based on the Daniel Wallace novel that inspired the Tim Burton film of the same name, BIG FISH runs July 21 through 25. Stars of the new Big Fish musical, Norbert Leo Butz and Kate Baldwin, as well as director/chorgeographer Susan Stroman, spoke with WGN TV about the premiere in Chicago which is now in tech rehearsals. In this interview, Stroman says working on this show is 'Tiring, exhausting, but fun,' Butz talks about how tech is really Susan's time, and Baldwin discusses the journey of this 'fantastical' show.
