The National Arts Club will present the zoom presentation of EYE ON DANCE clips narrated by the archive's creator/producer/host Celia Ipiotis on Thursday, April 28 at 7:30pm.

On Tuesday 19 April, at 3 pm, La Monnaie will bid farewell to Philippe Boesmans. We wish to honour this composer, who meant so much to our house with a musical tribute in our Main Auditorium. Musicians from the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra and artists who worked closely with Philippe throughout his illustrious career will perform a selection of his works or share their stories.

Unexpected Productions has announced that it has cast several new cast members. They will join the current cast of improvisers as the company gets ready to celebrate its 40th year of bringing improv to the Puget Sound.

New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) announced the publication of its first-ever cookbook, The Producer's Palate, during its March 30 industry screening of the Julia Child documentary Julia and Q&A with directors Julie Cohen and Betsy West. Produced during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the book features recipes, photos, and personal stories from leaders in the NYWIFT community. Proceeds from book sales will support NYWIFT's professional development and advocacy initiatives.

This morning, news broke that composer Philippe Boesmans passed away last night after a short illness. “We want to remember Philippe for his humanism, his humour and his generosity”, says the general director of the La Monnaie / De Munt, Peter de Caluwe. “He was always a welcome guest at our Theatre and an essential support for our house. His artistic contribution to La Monnaie and to contemporary opera is invaluable. He was a trusted voice for three successive directors of La Monnaie and was always ready to give constructive comments on our programming, for which he repeatedly made original suggestions. His opinion mattered, as a friend and as a professional, and will be greatly missed.”

The film features John Salley, Devyn Nekoda, Juan Chioran, Bryan Terrell Clark, Kolton Stewart, Robyn Alomar, Yvonne Senat Jones and Hayward Leach. 

Trek through the journey of an idea! Stages Theatre Company is set to present a world premiere musical, What Do You Do With An Idea? based on an award-winning book that comes to life on stage this spring! Follow the journey of a young child with the question; 'What DO you do with an idea?' First, they ignore it, but when it won't go away, they nurture it and watch it grow. One day the answer becomes abundantly clear. What Do You Do With An Idea? runs from April 8 - May 8, 2022. The show is appropriate for all ages and is based on the book by Kobi Yamada with illustrations by Mae Besom. The musical features a script by Cristina Pippa, Music & Lyrics by Sharon Kenny, and is Directed by Melanie Salmon-Peterson. 

New York-based MandarinWorks Theatre Festival will present two new original Mandarin works: 声的弥散 RIPPLES FROM A LOST SONG & 蝴蝶从这飞起来 HERE'S A BLUE MORPHO FOR YOU. Incubated through our community-engaged festival, both works will debut at 224 WAVERLY THEATER from Friday, April 15th to Sunday, April 17th.
