The renowned dance company Ballet Central will return to touring this spring with a four-month programme visiting 11 mid-sized theatres across England. 

A new Scottish Opera production of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Gondoliers opens at London’s Hackney Empire on Wednesday 30 March, following a successful run in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness in 2021. This co-production with D'Oyly Carte Opera and State Opera South Australia also includes the chance to catch G&S’s rarely seen Utopia, Limited in a semi-staged concert performance on Friday 1 April.

The next edition of 'The Songs We Write' - the free, original music event produced by Word Up Community Bookshop in Washington Heights will be presented virtually via Zoom on Sunday. March 6 @ 3:00pm (EST)

The producers of the highly acclaimed UK tour of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em have announced the casting of Susie Blake returning as Frank's disapproving mother-in-law Mrs Fisher, Moray Treadwell as Mr Luscombe/Mr Worthington, James Paterson as Father O'Hara and Ben Watson as Desmond/Constable.

The inaugural production is Sweat, Lynn Nottage’s acclaimed modern-day drama about life in an American Rust Belt town being battered by the constant threat of company shutdowns. Sweat is the winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play and a landmark achievement of American theater. Performances are March 9th - April 24th, 2022. There are two press openings: Wednesday, March 16, and Thursday, March 17 at 7 p.m.

Bloomingdale School of Music presents Album for the Young's An Afternoon of World Premieres on March, 19, 2022 at 3pm at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Peter Norton Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia.

Chatback Theatre has announced the cast of the coming-of-age hit If This is Normal, which is heading on a UK tour this April.  Critically acclaimed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019 and VAULT Festival in 2020, the show is set in the no-man’s land between childhood and adulthood, complicated by unfiltered access to technology and pop-feminism.

Red Entertainments Dead Lies, written by No.1 Best Selling Crime Novelist Hilary Bonner, will receive its world premiere this Spring opening at The Queen's Theatre, Barnstaple (14-16 April) prior to a UK Tour.

At American Stage now through February 27 is SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY by Jocelyn Bioh. SCHOOL GIRLS is loosely based on a true story that tells the tale of an all-girls school in Ghana and a prestigious Miss Global Universe pageant. A new, beautiful, and talented American student challenges the queen bee and gets noticed by the pageant recruiter. What ensues is a comedy that explores the universal struggles, similarities, and differences of teen girls, and the need to feel like you belong.

Actors Co-op Theatre Company presents Scott McPherson’s multi-award-winning MARVIN’S ROOM opening February 18, 2022. Thomas James O'Leary directs a cast of Laura Esterman, Lee Guthrie, Mark Rosenthal and Jane MacIver. I had the chance to question Thomas on ROOM, his past directorial projects and his long run playing the titular Phantom.
