David Simpatico & Lisa DeSpain Will Discuss THAT HELL-BOUND TRAIN at Rhinebeck Writers Retreat

Join playwright David Simpatico and composer Lisa DeSpain as they discuss their new work, That Hell-Bound Train, on Saturday, July 23rd at 5pm as part of the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat’s “Meet the Writers” series. This special event will take place at Clinton Community Library at historic Clinton Town Hall in Rhinebeck, NY (1215 Centre Road) and will include a meet and greet reception, followed by a discussion and Q&A with David and Lisa about That Hell-Bound Train.

Among the offerings are arrangements of such beloved classics as I Wonder as I Wander, Ding! Dong! Merrily on High, Silent Night, and God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen, by Leonard Enns, John Rutter, David Willc*cks and others, as well as works by noted 20th century English composers Ralph Vaughan Williams and Herbert Howells, and contemporary composers Sarah Quartel, Bob Chilcott, Patrick Hawes, Cecilia McDowall, and Will Todd.

St. Charles Singers To Present CANDLELIGHT CAROLS Free Online

The St. Charles Singers, led by founder and music director Jeffrey Hunt, will present their 2020 Candlelight Carols program as a free-to-view webcast on Sunday, December 6. The 45-minute concert will stream at 4 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9 p.m. CST.

Legendary Soprano Leontyne Price Honoured At 2019 International Opera Awards

Legendary soprano Leontyne Price was tonight [29 April 2019] awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award at the 2019 International Opera Awards (IOA) at a glittering red-carpet gala event at London's Sadler's Wells theatre. The Awards, considered opera's answer to the Oscars, celebrate achievements in opera around the globe over the last calendar year in a wide range of categories. The IOA acknowledged the pioneering singer's many achievements over her illustrious career, stating in a ground-breaking career that for the first time placed a great African-American artist at the very pinnacle of the operatic profession, both in her native United States and throughout Europe, Leontyne Price upheld the highest vocal standards that led to her receiving universal acclaim wherever and whatever she sang.
